This 2-hour Shuro brush-making workshop will be held in Kyoto in Spring 2024. It includes: Intro to the historical and cultural context of Shuro hemp palm brooms making Shuro Hand Brush-making class Your finished Shuro Hand Brush Complementary tea Shuro brooms and brushes are traditional Japanese household tools made with hemp palm. They are strong, durable, and effective in picking up fine particles on any surface. Shuro brooms are made by hand-wrapping natural hemp palm fibers with copper wire, which gives them their longevity and aesthetic appeal. In this workshop, you will have the opportunity to make your own Shuro hand brush with the guidance of a representative from Yamamoto Katsunosuke Shoten, the maker of our Shuro brooms and brushes. You can choose from two designs, both are perfect for cleaning tabletop crumbs, coffee mill grinds, and cupboard dust. We will have different sessions in the morning and afternoon for making different Shuro hand brushes, so please choose the session that corresponds to your preferred design: 10:00 - 12:00 ENASHI- A slanted brush with copper-wrapped handle 14:00 - 16:00 DARUMA - Bound by copper in bundles of 3, with a wooden handle This is an in-studio workshop that will take place at our Nunoya studio (5 minutes walk from Gojo Station). Instructions to exact location will be sent after booking. This class requires a minimum of 2 participants to be held. If you'd like to reschedule or cancel the workshop experience, please allow 48 hours of notice. CANCELLATION POLICY Due to limited seating and high demand, we request that you cancel at least 48 hours before a booked class. You may cancel via email to [email protected]. Unfortunately, we cannot offer any refunds after 48 hours. If POJ Studio must cancel class due to unforeseen circumstances such as natural disasters, we will process a full refund to your credit card within 7 - 10 business days.
