Iconic Brutalist buildings around the world
Angular, geometric shapes, hard edges, and monolithic constructions. You are either in a Lego set or looking at an example of brutalist architecture. It’s a devise style, with some seeing it as the pinnacle of function over form, while others just think of endless, soulless commie blocks, with rotting, exposed concrete.

About The Artwork Combining several hand-cut pieces of Brutalist architecture, to form a new, magnificent building that exists only in this image. Taking care to line up images in such a way as it just might be possible to construct, in an alternate world. A woman has paused to look back at the concrete mass. I hope the viewers will admire the architecture with a puzzled interest of how the building can exist. As always, an element of humour is in place in my works. This piece was conceived and created as part of a monochrome architectural pair with BRUTALIST VISION I, but of course can be purchased separately. Both artworks have been sprayed with a gallery-quality archival matt spray for protection, and is ready to hang in a black wood floating frame. From the BBC and CNN and now the New York Times, the word has come: Brutalism, perhaps the most reviled of all architectural styles, is back. Here’s what you need to know about the movement associated with hulking concrete masses and Soviet apartment buildings, beloved of critics and the architectural elite but despised by pretty much everyone else. I first became aware of Brutalism in the way that many architecture students do: through the structures on their own college campus.
