Bugatti EB110 (1991-95) Engine 3499cc Quad Turbo V12 Production 139 Registration Number EB 110 GT Entrant: Chris Hrabalek BUGATTI SET www.flickr.com/photos/45676495@N05/sets/72157623635625235... Unveiled on 5th September 1991, on the 110 anniversary of Ettore Bugatti's birth. The car is powered by a 60 valve quad turbo 3.5 litre V12 with an output of 553bhp powering all four wheels through a six speed gearbox. Giving a top speed of 213mph. The chassis was built by aircraft company Aerospatiale, of carbon fibre. The body features scissor style lifting doors by Gordini, with speed-sensitive electronic rear wing that can be raised at the flick of a switch. Five pre-production prototypes with aluminum chassis were built, followed by eight with composite chassis. Following these, it is believed that only 95 GT and 31 SS production models were constructed. Updated in 1992 with the lighter and more powerful EB110 SS (SuperSport) producing 603bhp. Hard times hit the company in 1995 and, as result of chairman Artioli's over ambitious purchase of Lotus and the development cost of a four door EB112 resulting in bankruptcy. Dauer Racing GmbH of Nuremberg, Germany, bought the semi-finished EB 110 cars in the assembly plant plus the parts inventory through the bankruptcy trustee. The remaining chassis and a version of the engine were later developed by B Engineering into their Edonis sports car.
