The Clendenen-Carleton House was based on this Nov. 1888 design featured in the Carpentry & Building magazine which had a national circulation at that time. George F. Barber was at the beginning of his architectural career so that makes the Bonham example one of his earliest Texas works. The Clendene-Carleton House is also fairly faithful to this published design.
