I've had a few days away in the caravan, so while the third load of washing is in the machine, doing its thing, I thought I would have a play with my Lavinia Stamps. I found a small off cut of a Brusho background from a previous project. I stamped the Lavinia Stamps "Gaggle of Geese" and the "Just for you" sentiment (part of the Heartfelt Verse stamp set) in Versafine Clair "Nocturne" black ink. I used "Warm Breeze" Versafine Clair ink around a moon mask and also around the edge of the inner area. Using a black pastel pencil, I created a reflection of the bank the geese stand on. For the border, I used "Spiced Marmalade" Distress Oxide Inks through the Lavinia Stamps "Abstract" stencil/mask, then added splatters of the same ink.
Today, Tracey has chosen a pair of our older stamps that have been enjoying renewed popularity of late. After creating a lovely background with Elements and Brusho inks on the Gel Press, she coupled up the Spotty Toadstools with our newer miniature Meadow Mushrooms. Looking through my stamps, I realised it's been ages since I used the Lavinia Stamps "Sebastian the Seahorse". The detail on it is stunning, so I decided to have a play. I had a prepared 6" gelli plate background from a previous session a couple of weeks back, so decided to use it. (It was Colorbox "Artichoke" colour ink brayered onto the plate, with splashes of turquoise coloured wet Brusho sprinkled on top of the brayered colour). I added some extra colour to the top of the circle as it was too light for what I wanted using a couple of Distress Oxide Inks. I stamped "Sebastian" in Versafine Clair "Twilight" dark blue ink. I stamped the background taller "Seaweed 2" in Versafine Clair "Verdant" light green ink. I stamped the "Stones" in Versafine Clair "Acorn" brown ink and coloured them with a metallic gold pen. I stamped the darker coloured "Seaweed" stamped in Versafine Clair "Shady Lane" green ink. I stamped the "Sea Bubbles" in Versafine Clair "Morning Mist" grey ink. I added some touches of silver glitter using a Signo Pen.
I recently watched an on-line tutorial by Tracey Dutton of Lavinia Stamps, where she was making backgrounds using a Gelli Plate, Colorbox Inks and Brusho paints. I had to have a go, it was messy, but I loved each unexpected result. It's definitely something I will be doing again. I decided which background I would use and without any real agenda, looked at my Lavinia Stamps to see which I thought would suit. I decided on the "Seasonal Tree" and "Midnight Meandering Rabbits" I stamped the tree in Versafine Clair "Shady Lane" and the rabbits in Versafin "Olympia Green". I used a touch of Distress Ink with a moist paintbrush to colour the land at the base of the rabbits and tree. Finally, I stamped the sentiment, which is by Hobby Arts Ltd.

I sadly heard of the passing of one of our parents of our friend, so made a sympathy card to pop in the post first thing tomorrow. I started this card by stamping the Lavinia Stamps "Fairy Thistle" in Versafine Clair "Monarch" purple ink. I then coated the stamping in Wow! Clear Embossing Powder and heat set. Over the top of the card, I lay the Lavinia "Feather Leaf" stencil, applying "Shadow Grey" Archival Ink through the stencil, fading the ink out across the card. I stamped the sentiment, again using "Monarch" purple ink. The sentiment is part of a Stampin' Up cling set called "Heal Your Heart". Finally, I coloured the thistles using Derwent Inktense pencils applied with a brush and added touches of silver and purple Uniball Signo pens.

Today I have been playing with the new Lavinia Stamps again. I don't seem to be able to stop at the moment! I've used a gelli plate background I had made a couple of months ago using Brusho and Colorbox inks. I used the new Lavinia Pebble stencil with Distress Oxide inks around the edge of the central coloured image. I stamped the following Lavinia Stamps (Fish Set, Urchins, Seaweed2, Marine Kelp and Zen Plant) in a selection of Versafine Clair Inks, adding a few touches with Sakura gelly roll pen.
Hello everyone, it's Eileen here from the design team - thank you for joining me today. l hope you will enjoy this Lavinia Stamps Video Tutorial...
Over at Lavinia Stamps this weekend, Tracey Dutton, Jo Rice and Sarah Anderson had a craft off, making a tag using the new Lavinia Stamps "Forest Leaf" stamp, so that prompted me to have a play too, making this tag. I used a manila coloured tag for the base then used two shades of green and two shades of orange Ranger Archival Inks. The colours I used are: Prickly Pear, Fern Green, Monarch Orange and Bright Tangello. Using Versafine Clair "Twilight" dark blue ink, I stamped the "Forest Leaf" stamp in the top left corner and then again in the bottom right corner. While the "Twilight" ink was out, I inked the edges of the tag. I used Versafine Clair "Warm Breeze" turquoise ink to stamp the "Winter Spice" verse over the peachy/orange coloured areas. I then used Versafine Clair "Twilight" to stamp the sentiment, which is part of the Lavinia Stamps "Heartfelt Verse" stamp set. I then started to colour the leaves using Derwent Inktense pencils, applied with a paint brush. I gave the lighter areas of the leaves a few brush strokes of "A Wink of Stella" to give some shimmer to the leaves. I then used some copper coloured metallic paint and a fan shaped paint brush, tapped to produce tiny splatters of colour across the tag. I gave the surface a waft of the heat gun to ensure it was fully dry, before mounting the tag on to some dark blue card.
Today I have been playing with my Lavinia Stamps. I used a Brusho "Wax Stick" to create the wax resist grid in the background and then swooshing the tag through various colours of Distress Oxide inks left on my glass mat after assorted projects. I stamped the Lavinia "Fairy Thistles" and "Single Fairy Thistles" in Versafine Clair "Purple Delight" ink and coloured them with assorted Posca Pens and Signo glitter pens. I stamped the "Words of spring" verse in Versafine Clair "Charming Pink" ink.

This morning I decided to use a stamp that I have rarely used. The stamp of choice today was the Lavinia Stamps mermaid called "Alana". I started this card by using four shades of Distress Oxide Inks (Tumbled Glass, Speckled Egg, Weathered Wood and Shabby Shutters), through the Lavinia "Pebble" stencil which created the background design. I started to stamp the images using the Lavinia Stamps Urchins, Alana, Mystic Swirl, Zen Plant, Forest Spruce and Fish Set, using three shades of Versafine Clair Inks (Twilight, Morning Mist and Warm Breeze). Finally I added detail with a silver metallic pen and dots of Liquid Pearls. I then mounted the image on to card and stamped the Lavinai Stamps sentiment "Deeper than the ocean".
I have had a fabulous response to my "Northern Lights" card using Lavinia Stamps, with some asking for a step by step guide. I am no photographer, but have made a duplicate card this evening with a photo step by step, so hope to show how to create the colourful skyscape. These are the products that I used to create the card. I started by using a blending tool and Distress Oxides. The first shade I used was Spiced Marmalade, then Crushed Olive, Picked Raspberry and Peacock Feathers. Finally, I used Wilted Violet to colour in the remaining areas. I then added Chipped Sapphire over some of the Wilted Violet area. I popped a mask of torn card to create the landscape just below the colours and dragged the Black Soot Distress Oxide downwards from the mask, which in turn creates the landscape. I folded a piece of kitchen roll into four and dampened the inner corner (you could also use an ear bud or a sheet of wet wipe to do the same), and lifted some of the colour by lightly dragging the damp corner across the sky. This makes the colours in the sky appear more vibrant. I lay a sheet of copy paper over the land area of the card and using a fan shaped paint brush, dipped into water, splattered droplets on to the sky area. I then blotted with a piece of kitchen paper. This produces a bleached effect where the water has been, leaving lighter spots which mimic stars. At this stage, I moved onto stamping. When I stamp, I use a Misti platform, other makes work just as well. This allows you to re-stamp in the exact same position, which is quite hard to do if just using a normal stamp block. Using Lavinia Stamps "Spring Trees" and "Star Gazing" I used two shades of Versafine Clair ink. Morning Mist for more distant stamping and Nocturne for closer stamping. I then added some Distress Oxide in the shade of "Chipped Sapphire" around the edge of the card and also between some of the colours in the sky (use the edge of the blending tool between the colours as you don't need a solid area of colour). This seems to make the colours pop more. Now it's time to create the landscape around the stamped images. Again I used a mask of torn card and Distress Oxide ink in the shade of Black Soot. For the landscape right at the front, I used Versafine Clair "Nocturne" ink. I then stamped the Lavinia Stamps "Mini Slender Mushrooms", again in Versafine Clair, Nocturne. Finally, using a white Posca pen, I added some stars to the sky and some highlighted areas to the mushrooms. I hope this has helped you to attempt a similar sky. Any questions, just leave a message in the comments. Sam x
My order of the new stamp release from Lavinia Stamps arrived early afternoon, so I wasted no time in getting to play with my favourite stamp from the new release, the "Botanical Blossoms". I cut a piece of kraft card in to a tag shape, then using Versafine Clair "Twilight" dark blue ink, stamped the new "Botanical Blossom" stamp, coating the stamped image with Wow! Clear Embossing Powder and then heat setting. Next I used "Paradise Teal" Ranger Archival Ink through the "Lavinia Stamps "Nimbus Stencil" fading the colour out towards the edges. I then used Versafine Clair "Morning Mist" grey ink to stamp "Words of Spring" in second generation stamping. I then inked the edges of the tag with Versafine Clair "Twilight" ink. Finally, I made splatters with a white Posca Pen around the edges of the stamping. I used a white gel pen to add a little detail to the stamped image and then mounted the tag on to a piece of dark blue card.
Lavinia Stamps have recently released some new products, which I had to have a play with to create this card, which I think has a feeling of Klimt, due to the colouring and touches of gold. Unfortunately, it doesn't show up too well in the photo, so I've taken a little video clip to show the gold areas. I've used the new Lavinia "Leaf Mask" for the central image and their "Flurry Stencil" for the background. The sentiment is part of the Lavinia "Heartfelt Verse" stamp set, stamped in Versafine Clair "acorn" brown ink.
