Groetjes, Anneke.
Hello friends, This month Brand Ambassadors' Spotlight host is Iwona Marchewka. The theme is Earth Tones with Sparkle. We are happy to show you projects by our talented ambassadors: Iwona Marchewka, I associate the colors of the earth with childhood the most. Brown earth, green grass and yellow sand are the colors of my yard, where I spent all my free time as a child. These colors are carefree, freedom, when the only problem was deciding whether to play hide and seek or play football. Today's project is a summary of my childhood years, I created a brush in earth colors to remind me of this wonderful time. I added sparkle with Unicorn Mermaid and green glitter, which finished my project like a sprinkle on ice cream. Products I have used - all the images linked to Mixed Media Place online store: Memento Mori I had so much fun making these cards combining earth tones and glitter! It was great to think what elements to put together for an earthy feel but still have the sparkle in there. I solved that by making an earthy background and added the shiny parts on top! The new “Birds and Bats” mould is one of my favorites, so I wanted to use those stunning bird skulls as my focal point. To make them shiny I used a couple of the glittery looking “Sparks” acrylic paints and then coated the skulls using the metal flakes. Around the skulls I created a small composition out of Mechanicals, some chipboard and then Art Ingredients. While the two sizes of Art Stones bring the earthy feel there, then the tiny glitter flakes from “Luminous” glitter set add the sparkle. The earth tones in the background are done using watercolors, tea and brayered acrylic paints. On top there’s stamping and several stenciled layers. One of them is using “Burlap” Impasto paint and others using Texture Effect Paste sets. Products I have used - all the images linked to Mixed Media Place online store: Hi loVelies :-) So haPPy to be back sharing a little earthy tones & sparkly canvas, the inspiration, time spent in my garden :-) I’m so very thankful that over here in the U.K. Spring has arrived. Why? Because Spring brings the warming sunshine & along come the April showers too! But what an amazing spectacle when we get the April showers on a sunny day, the rain appears to sparkle as the sun’s rays bounce off the droplets of rain. I just loVe to tilt my head back & catch these magical droplets on my face... Finnabair’s new release collection is just perfect to recreate the earth tones and sparkle prompt! Teehee I couldn’t resist using quite a fair bit of the new collection too! Gilding flakes, jewel effect paste, grungy mechanical embellishments, vellum papers & moulds galore. I’m obsessed with the frame mould set featured in my artwork today. Finnabair is amaZing at designing products in such a way enabling us all to easily create the most beautiful & intricate pieces like this frame. If you could see my smile now you’d know how haPPy & over the moon I am with my little loVely frame... Hugs Kassa xoxoxo Products I have used - all the images linked to Mixed Media Place online store: Topic earth tones with sparkle very much fitted into my love of natural elements used in assemblage. I i had an idea for project- nature collector box for found treasures. I did prepare box of trinkets quite bird- oriented. I do love new molds and I like to play with them to get more dimensional elements. By paring up some elements I was able to make 3d bones and skulls that found placement in my box of found treasures. Me element of sparkle was new jewel paste and some mica chunks captured in little jars. Products I have used - all the images linked to Mixed Media Place online store: Have a good evening! 2018 Topic 10: Paper Dolls Kaz Hall Well hello and bonjour everyone, Darcy here. I have just returned from France to bring you our latest challenge. This one is fun and will take you back to your childhood play days. Do you remember cutting out paper dolls from magazines, or even creating your own? I definitely did, I went through a phase of drawing and colouring paper dolls, each with a different outfit. I had a box full and they went everywhere with me. Before we start, let's see who won the Topic 9: Colour: Vintage Neutrals Colour Challenge... The winner is: Hazel Parr from Create a smile cards Email Darcy to claim your prize. [email protected] There are many versions of paper dolls available now, you can find an abundance of downloadable dolls online but if you don't fancy the cutting out then the Tim Holtz die cuts are for you. They come in packets with over 100 pieces, enough to play for ages. These vintage images slot nicely into so many layouts, themes and colour schemes. These examples will show mostly this type of 'doll' but you can use any paper dolls that you have, or even create your own from stamped parts. The Lynne Perrella Collection has lots of heads to start you off. This example is very much a vintage collage of ephemera, beautiful neutrals combined with a little texture. Emma Williams More vintage dolls/people, this time on tags. The theme remains layered and distressed but it set off by the strong blue of the pieces of denim fabric. Katje Mezzanotte I love the use of the embroidery hoop framing this project, it really adds tot he traditional feel. Emma Williams Here the colour scheme is simple and elegant with a splash of vivid colour on the butterfly wings. Bobbi Smith As you can see the vintage dolls work equally well on a colourful background, these tags are stunning. Beautiful blending and inky edges pulls all the elements together. Barbarayaya More colour here, not just in the background but also on the figure which has had subtle colour added. Bexta A fun keepsake in a tiny tin, this little girls with her blushed cheeks fits perfectly inside this tin with her butterflies. Nichola Battilana Now for a piece that is full on 3d, there is so much to look at here, it is such an inspirational project. From the wheels, the bottles and the flowers tot he boy and the butterflies. I especially like that he stands out for not being coloured so brightly. The carefully placed words lead your eye around all the elements. Barbarayaya More 3d pieces, this time small houses, subtle tints combined with splashes of colour is the key. Annie Such a beautiful colour in this background, with lots of well thought out and placed elements of interest. Tracy Evans I had to include this piece as it is so sweet, all dolls need clothes and somebody has to wash them. This line of dresses has so many lovely little details, peer between the layers to pick them out. Nederhoff913 If you love the clothes of paper dolls then how about adding textured clothes to them, a little scarp of lace looks fabulous. Maygreen Fairies You could also collect petals and leaves and create some stunning fairy outfits. Artful Adventures These little origami dolls are wonderful check out the link under this photo to find a tutorial. Omiyage blogs Another way to join in is to use vintage photos of your own, such as old family photos. Here they are attached to cubes. Barbarayaya This next one could be so much fun, make these for family and friends, work colleagues or teachers. the templates are on Claudine Hellmuth's blog, find then HERE. Mendy You can also make your own dolls from blank templates, there are several templates on Kimberly Crick's site, once you have the body shape you can use rubber stamps and patterned papers to add character. The templates are free to download, check them out. Hello guys! I finished another shaped mini album. For creating it I used a "Stationer's Desk" paper collection from Prima. ** Can you believe that my post with this album gained over 700 likes in Prima FaceBook Group?! Thank you, everyone who liked it and shared :)** To tell you the truth, I didn't that much like these papers at first, and from the 12" x 12" sheets I bought only 2 pieces of the "Roses Are Red". Since the album measures 8" X 6.5" I had to think about the way for creating the cover and the pages using only these 2 sheets (well, plus a 6" X 6" pad that I also had). The album spine is 3" and there are 6 core pages in the album. For creating 4 of them I used Ginger's tutorial, and another 2 are simple pocket pages with the photo mats inside. Here are just a couple of close-ups: And more of the inside views: I will soon have a tutorial for creating a smaller version of this purse album, so please stay tuned and subscribe to my You Tube Channel if you don't want to miss it. Here's a video preview by the way :) Have a great weekend! Hugs, Alexandra
Another layout from Debden....... Last summer whilst on holiday in Dorset we spent a day at Lulworth Castle. The castle was built in the early 17th Century and has changed little over the years. During the summer visitors to the castle can watch dramatic battles on horseback at the spectacular summer jousting contests held in the magnificent castle grounds and whilst at Debden I created a layout of a couple of the photos I took of the horse display. I used some very old patterned papers from Scenic Route and I think 7 Gypsies, a scrap of vellum for the journaling, card stock flourishes and title cut on the Cricut and stickled, a making memories metal frame, photo turns and brads. You can see more of my photos of the castle. park and horses here on my photography blog
Hello everyone and welcome to my blog. I hope, wherever you are, that you are experiencing some lovely weather. Adelaide has been cold and overcast for weeks but, today, we finally have some sun!! It's still pretty cold though so all I can say is "Bring on the summer"!!!! OK, down to business ... I have another card to share with you. A very masculine and quite 'grungy' card as my title suggests. I distressed all the edges with my Ingvild Bolme Distressy Tool and inked them with 'Gathered Twigs' Distress Ink. A bit of Heather Jacob influence here I think, but still with my own stamp on it!! If you don't know Heather (Can't really imagine that, but) HERE is the link to her blog if you'd like to take a look!! You won't be sorry, as she creates the most gorgeous and inspiring projects! Looooveeee her work!! The papers used are from Prima's 'Engraver' Collection. The tickets were fussy cut from the papers then I crumpled them a little, inked the edges and slipped them in between the layers. Used a spatula to add some 'Clear Rock Candy' Distress Crackle and, when that was dry, I went over it with 'Gathered Twigs' Distress Ink to bring out the cracks. I then just used my finger to swipe some gesso around the edge. I love how the gesso also 'cracked' when it dried. Used the same technique on the belly band as you can see. I've had the metal key and the clock in my stash for a little while and am not sure where I got those but I really love that key. Was a bit sorry to use it as it is the only one I have but sometimes you just have to bite the bullet don't you?? Here's another closie of the 'crackle' effect. I really love it and you'll be seeing a lot more of this in my work!!! Decorated the inside with wide bands of the paper which were border punched with the 'Optic Dot' Punch by Martha Stewart. Then I added a bit more texture with Tim Holtz 'Latticework' Stencil and 'Frayed Burlap' Distress Ink and, again, wiped a little gesso around the edge on one side. A different view ... lying down ... ... and standing up!! This is the first of two 'grungy' masculine cards I created. The second is similar to this but of course a bit different as well and I will show you that one further down the track. Thank you so much for visiting today and I do hope you enjoy the rest of your day. Take care and God Bless.

Remember the vise I found a few weeks ago? Here it is as the body of this long legged angel faced beauty. She has big feet but as they say “she has a good foundation”. Her charm is accentuated by the fact that she wears her heart on the outside for everyone to see, it is part of her saint like qualities. I have been working like crazy getting ready for Art Fest here are two new Santos. It never ceases to amaze me who comes out of the clay. I thought this time I would use colored fabric to dress her and was happy with this look. I also tried to get away from the traditional gold crown and painted it black. I think it looks good on her. I felted a wool pinafore to go over her clothes, I think it gives her a cool medieval look. ++++++++++++++++++++++++ Here are a few more photos from Mexico Orchids hang in a variety of colors and shapes from every surface at the botanical gardens near Puerto Vallarta. In the back ground my Mom and sister are coming out from the welcoming shade, funny words for an Oregonian to say. A fight broke out between two Boat Tailed Grackles They are tail to tail here. The fight went on and on. The police had to be called in.
