The Michael Aram Black Orchid Collection was inspired by the powerful sensuality of orchids and the rich ambiance of haute couture – strikingly simple yet full of the most extreme detail. The collection has an almost gothic feeling – opiated, lush, and smoldering – like the dark, velvety atmosphere of a luxurious evening. "There is something so seductive about orchids. In blackened nickel, they are even more sublime, like a woman wearing a black velvet gown floating through a great estate or a glassy urban high-rise. The dark atmosphere of the orchids against the hammered metal is like the afterglow of a beautiful evening." With floral patterns on a pale blue background, the six main center panels are designed with animal figures including foo dogs that symbolize protection and phoenix birds that symbolize new life. Ribbon decoration throughout also suggests that these vases had a sacred quality, Northern China, Hunan province, early 20th century.

"Simultaneously with the replacement in Europe of the Baroque style by the Rococo, the Famille Rose appeared in the Chinese export porcelain. Significant for this style is a new emphasis on flowers, influenced by the by now established Qing dynasty, a different color scheme based on enamels mixed with white to give a softer impression, and the presence of a new rose enamel based on gold." "Porcelain originated in China. Although proto-porcelain wares exist dating from the Shang Dynasty (1600–1046 BC), by the time of the Eastern Han Dynasty period (206 BC – 220 AD), glazed ceramic wares had developed into porcelain. Porcelain manufactured during the Tang Dynasty (618–907 AD) was exported to the Islamic world, where it was highly prized. Early porcelain of this type includes the tri-colour glazed porcelain, or sancai wares. There is no precise date to separate the production of proto-porcelain from that of porcelain. Porcelain items in the sense that we know them today could be found in the Tang Dynasty, and archaeological finds have pushed the dates back to as early as the Han Dynasty (206 BC – 220 AD). By the Sui Dynasty (581–618 AD) and Tang Dynasty (618–907 AD), porcelain was widely produced." 福 🐉 福 🐟 福 🌾 福 🐉 福 🐟 福 🌾 福 🐉 福 🐟 福 🌾 福 🐉 福 🐟 福 🌾 福 I'm not an expert on Porcelain.
