I made this cigar box for a friend of mine who celebrated her birthday last week. It was a blast to make and I used all the the new LOTV Grunge stamps. I made a small tutorial on how I did the papers for this box below.

Besides, why promote cigar use when you could instead encourage reading with a gorgeous book purse like this one. Sure, some people might be upset about the destruction of a great book, but there's always the chance that it was damaged before the cover was stripped off anyway.Link Via The Mary Sue...

To me, there’s just something special about a high quality leather purse or bag. They are traditional, durable and never go out of style. Hello everybody! You know how I love making mini albums! Today I want to share a micro mini album, which was inspired by the album from this video. It's size is 4" x 3", the spine measures 2". I used Prima 6X6 paper pad called Cigar Box Secrets. The album has 6 pages binded in a hidden hinge binding system. The covers and the spine are made from a medium chipboard. Every page is a pocket and holds a 3.5" x 2 5/8" photo mat. For the closure I used Tim Holtz Swivel Clasp. So let's look inside the album: On the inside front and back covers I made a pocket for the tiny tags and tickets: I enjoyed making this mini a lot. Thank you, Katja, for the inspiration! I hope in my turn I inspired several of you for creating a mini :) Hugs, Alexandra

Once in a while things come together so easily it sort of feels like cheating… that was the case with this little box. I began by simply painting all of the edges and corners of an ATC book box black. To the top of the box I added Artisan Style Decorative Flourish, the sides are This Old House. The inside the box is covered with Craftmanship and the bottom of the box is covered with Natural Beauty for a bit of “POP”. A length of black ribbon is wrapped around the sides and a piece from Artisan Style Decorative Chipboard, and a Stamped Metal Brad added. Finally, a set of those fabulous Claw Feet. The top has an amazing chunky Fancy Handle that I’ve affixed in the upright position. A little bit of distressing on the edges and the whole thing is complete and looks really elegant. Now to decide if I should use this fab little box to store these cute Artisan Style ATC’s or maybe some fancy costume jewelry! BOO! Me again with some more Halloween fun! I love TIM HOLTZ' "Creepy Kids" from his Photo Studio stamp set. They are perfect for a spooky Halloween tag! So, let me introduce you to them. In fact, this entire tag is done using Tim Holtz images and products! This is a large #10 manila tag. I first heat embossed (with clear embossing) my "lightening" which is actually the tree branches from Tim Holtz' Regal Findings stamp set (turned upside down). It does resemble lightening though! Since this is supposed to be an eerie, stormy night, I distressed the tag using Stormy Sky and Chipped Sapphire Distress Inks. Then I wiped the inks off of the embossed lightening. I added a little Black Soot in the center of the tag and along the edges. Next I used Tim Holtz' Spritz and Flick method to add some mottling to the background. Finally I added some Stardust Stickles randomly on the lightening. Very spooky! Next I stamped the creepy kids onto manila cardstock using Jet Black Archival Ink and heat set them. Then I colorized them using various Distress Ink colors and a small Sakura Water Brush. The colors are: Milled Lavender for the faces, Spun Sugar for the cheeks, Worn Lipstick for the lips and color trim, Rusty Hinge for the dress, Tumbled Glass for the shirt, Vintage Photo, Scattered Straw, Tea Dye for the hair, Black Soot for the edging. Then I heat set them. I then glued the kids onto kraft paper to give them a really sturdy feel and cut them out again. I edged them with a black cats eye ink pad. Tim Holtz' Fence is cut out of Grungeboard and painted with Picket Fence Distress Crackle Paint. Once dry, I added the brown antiquing with Gathered Twig Distress Ink followed by a little black cats eye ink pad at the edges. It is pop dotted on top of the creepy kids. The "Happy Halloween" banner is from Tim Holtz' Apothecary stamp set. It is stamped onto Manila Cardstock using Jet Black Archival. I tore the two ends of the paper to give them a more rustic look. Then distressed the banner using Rusty Hinge and Gathered Twig Distress inks. I edged the banner with Black Soot Distress Ink as well as little Gathered Twig. The black cat and the tree behind the kids and fence is also Tim Holtz'. It's called "Branch Tree". It is also cut out of Grungeboard. I cut away the base of the tree and added some extra Grungeboard to give the tree more height. Then I painted it with Vintage Photo Distress Crackle Paint and let it dry. When dry, I edged the tree with a Black Soot Distress Marker and drew a few lines to create bark on the tree trunk. Finally, I added a few Stardust Stickles to represent the reflection of lightening on the tree. The tree is glued directly onto the tag. Everything else is pop dotted for more dimension. The black cat from Tim Holtz' Mini Cat Movers and Shapers, is cut out of Grungeboard and painted with a Black Paint Dabber. When dry, I added a few Black Diamond Stickles for the lightening reflections. The bats in flight and the crow perched upon the tree branch are from Tim Holtz' Trick Or Treat and Halloween Minis 2 stamp sets. They were stamped using Jet Black Archival Ink onto manila cardstock and then cut out, leaving just a hint of the manila cardstock as a border. I then added just a touch of Black Diamond Stickles to reflect the lightening. As a final embellishment, I added a Seasonal Muse Token that says "Frightful". I loved how this tag turned out. Very dimensional and fun. I typically don't use a lot of blue in my work but I really love the contrast of the stormy night sky and the "lightening" on this tag! Thanks for stopping by and have a HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Namaste Guys Tibetan Buddhist mantra - Om Mane Padme Hum - Hail to the Jewel in the Lotus - meaning that you try to find the best within your self and work to always uncover it in your life - compassion, peace, living in the moment. When I saw Prima Is my favorite brand in the whole wide world. The paper collections are so beautifully designed that it is easy to come up with ideas for projects. I love to create different and unique projects each time. I have created three projects for the Prima Design Team Audition 2015. I have tried to Focus on my Strengths and showcase variety in terms of work, definition and skill. Project No #1 Chic Handbag using Prima Bella Rouge I love to draw inspiration from things around me and it brings me great joy to be able to recreate objects and things especially if they are vintage. For this project I have created a handbag that is also a mini album. To complete the look of the handbag I have used actual bag handles and magnetic bag closure. Using metal embellishments to accent the bag. Te front and back cover have large pockets that have goodies in them. Watch the Video Flip through of the whole project here, the video contains description as well. I created a charm dangle with a lot of girly charms and hung them from one of the handles. The Bag handles have been attached with red velvet Ribbon and anchored with brads. The cover has been wrapped in Red satin fabric to give a look of sophistication. Project No #2 Paris Travel Junk Journal I love to travel and I love creating Travel journals it is a passion that drives me to create something new each time for each of my trips. I create a journal to take with me on my trip, I write in it, I add Polaroid photos, I save everything I get like tickets, bills and brochures and i glue then down and tuck into the pockets. Going to Paris is a life long dream! Therefore the Paris inspired Paper collection " The Archivist " inspired me to create a Travel journal for when I do go to Paris. It has 9 signatures and over 30 individual pages. There are envelopes that I created from scratch incorporated into the journal for added real estate. I have pages to write on or to draw as well. The journal measures 9"x6" and 4 " wide spine, it is constructed with cardstock and chipboard. I loved using the vintage papers, the designs and color schemes are absolutely perfect. I have designed the first signature to contain the itinerary and the tickets and other documents and details about the hotel and agent information etc. The next seven signatures are all similar each dedicated day wise for a week long trip. Project No # 3 Vintage Inspired Telescope I have created a vintage inspired Telescope, with a retractable body. Using the really amazing paper collection called " The Archivist". The entire project was created from scratch using kitchen paper roll tubes. The telescope when closed is 12" and when expanded its 22" . I wanted to mimic the retracting motion of the telescope tubes. I used the pattern paper to accent the telescope. Loved creating this project, I was tinkering with this idea for a while, to see it in actuality. This was fun project to put together the trick was to find a couple of tubes that fit I hope you enjoyed my creations and I hope you will visit again. Thank you for stopping by.
