In less than a week I'll be 24 (on Thursday the 9th to be exact), and for a while now, holidays like Easter aren't really celebrated with as much gusto as when I was younger (anyone else miss Easter baskets and egg hunts?); but I still like getting dressed up for Easter dinner with my family (it's now basically a second Thanksgiving, and I'm totally okay to celebrate any holiday by stuffing my face!). This year I went for something simple and easy. A while back I shared a post about the Old Navy eyelet dress that I had just got for spring/summer. I put it on for the first time today, and I was in love as soon as I put the dress on! It fits like a dream, and it's lined so it's not see-through. If you haven't seen it or purchased one yet, I highly recommend this dress! And right now it's on sale at Old Navy for $35 (plus, today and tomorrow you can get an extra 20% off your order when you order online!). It's nice and light, but isn't flimsy. And, for tall girls like me (I'm 5'7"), it's not too short at all--perfect length! Dress: Old Navy Jacket: BCBGeneration from Marshalls Earrings: old from Forever21 (slightly similar here) Belt: thrifted Ralph Lauren Shoes: 2 months ago from Marshalls Necklaces: old sale find from J.Crew (slightly similar here) I mention in this weekend recap post, the tutorial I used to wand my hair, and it's been a really big help! I used to end up with these weird, really tight curls that make me look like Shirley Temple (I don't know how I even did it, but it was horrid lol). Now when I curl my hair it looks a million times better, thanks to my friend Sam. And the best part is that she shows you how to do it in like 10 minutes! So if I can learn how to curl my hair with this tutorial, every one of you can too! :) Happy Easter! And happy curling! :*
I'll be the first to admit, when I first saw that overalls were making a comeback, I was skeptical. I wore the in all sorts of styles when I was younger (I was a 90s kid, so I had multiple pairs, haha). But a few weeks ago, while I was at work, I spotted these Aerie overalls that had just come in...I had to have them. Sunday I had to be up extra early (yuck) to babysit. Running after three kids calls for super comfy, moveable pieces; and having to go to work right after, means that comfy also has to look chic. This burgundy Aerie hat takes this outfit from lazy Sunday morning to chic and stylish. I love that this look is fun, and comfortable, and still makes a statement even though it's pretty much made up of all lounge wear (Aerie for the big win on that one!)! Adding some bold accessories kicks it up a notch: a statement clutch and bold, classic gold watch, adds some interest to what would otherwise just be lazy girl loungewear. SHOP MY LOOK Overalls: Aerie || Striped Turtleneck: Old Navy (similar here) || Watch: c/o Fossil || Clutch: Marshalls (similar here) || Hat: Aerie || Sunnies: Old Navy (similar here + here only $10!) How do you take your lazy girl wear to stylish and chic? :)
Guys I think I found my power outfit! My major in college (go Red Dragons!), was history, and I think my love of history has influenced my love for fashion as well. What I mean is that, some of my pieces are reminiscent of the past, but I like to put a modern twist on it. For example, I'm really digging the equestrian look for fall (the two go hand-in-hand perfectly!); the aristocratic, old time elegance and style of the equestrian look is the perfect blend of history and fashion! I don't know why or how, but this look just gives me so much confidence! I feel so freakin' dapper in this outfit, like I should be at a polo match with a glass of champagne in my hand (and shouldn't every day feel like that? hahaha). Warning: this blazer causes feelings of awesomeness; you'll be seeing this blazer many more times between now and spring time! I scored this Ralph Lauren blazer from my favorite vintage shop, Paper Doll Vintage Boutique. They had a huge yard sale going on at the shop, and I happened to find this blazer on one of the back racks while I was waiting for my sister to get out of work (she works nearby); if my sister had come to the store earlier than she did I don't think I would've ever spotted this beauty! When I did see it, I saw that it was a size 8 and I got a little sad because I'm usually a 10 or 12, but I figured I'd try it anyways (cuz why not???); when I put it on I was more than pleasantly surprised that it fit--and it fit amazingly!!! I felt so good putting it on, because I didn't think it would fit me (isn't that the worst, finding something you fall in love with and then it doesn't fit?!), but it actually fit like a glove and looked good on me! :D I wish it was fall all year round, just so I can wear my riding boots every day! These aviators are the only ones I've ever actually liked on my face... and I've tried on a whole lot! I found them while I was waiting on line one day at Old Navy (that's how they get you! ...and I'm a sucker lol), and when I tried them on I'm pretty sure I could hear angels singing. Anyone else feel that way when you try something on and it's so magically because it feels like it was made just for you? This pose reminds me of Captain Morgan...but my sister insisted (what the photographer says, goes, lol), haha. Today was just an overall good day. I felt super productive AND both my hair and OOTD were on point; can a girl ask for more? I didn't really have much to do (really I just had to get my eyes checked out and re-take my passport picture), but even when I cross off the few things on a short to-do list, I still feel kinda accomplished. I think it was mostly because I felt so good about how I looked today, that I just came up with errands to do so I could show off my outfit, lol. I totally felt pretty, and, a little badass today; AKA, the perfect combination for getting sh*t done! I feel like looking good and feeling good makes me more productive; I got it all done and ordered some new frames (...in red; which I'm super excited to share with you guys!)! I feel like I totally rocked today. Jeans are usually hit or miss for me, but GAP has some killer jeans, that fit in all the right places, and don't make me look frumpy. And their boyfriend jeans are my absolute fave. These ripped pair are totally bad girl chic, and they're insanely comfy! As always, I'm rocking my power bag, the Michael Kors Selma bag (in navy blue, because #navyornothing!), that Richie got me last year. Last year my sister and I discovered, Paper Doll Vintage Boutique, a local vintage store on Long Island (if you can't make it out to the Island, definitely give their Etsy shop a look!). They have the best accessories to add a little vintage glam to your outfits. While I was out at the eye doctor, one of the women working there actually made my day and told me that I inspired her outfit for a concert she was going to tonight! Hearing things like that are total confidence boosters, and it made me love my outfit even more! Clearly it's no secret I now love posing with my sister's (who also happens to be my photographer!) bright red car. While I love my 2015 Chevy Equinox (AKA, Viv; named by my sister), Rachel's car just provided a more retro and edgier backdrop. Plus, the bright red is the best pop of color for pretty much any photoshoot. I recently collaborated with Sakeenah over at BroBandz to share these earrings with you guys. And just like their name, these are most certainly, "Not Your Grandma's Pearl Earrings"! These earrings are the definition of tough girl, pretty girl chic! Pearls in the front= classy, pretty girl; spikes in the back= edgy, tough girl. I love the feeling of classic pearls (and I loooove me some pearls), and then BAM! silver spikes in the back add some tough girl flair. Definitely the perfect pair of studs for taking on the day and crossing things off your to-do list! And one of the best parts? 10% of the profits go towards Meals on Wheels and More chapter in Austin, TX. I'm all about fashion for a cause, so for sure, check out BroBandz and help Sakeenah support Meals on Wheels and More! <3 P.S. This Turquoise Beaded necklace is too cute; and perfect for layering! This weather has been really funky lately, like Mother Nature's confused whether it's finally fall, or if summer should linger a little longer; the mornings are cool and crisp, but then by the afternoon it shoots up to seventy degrees (ugh!), and then early evening the weather cools down again. This makes getting dressed a bit of a pain, because I never know what the weather's going to be like. I love the whole shorts over tights look, it's the perfect solution to the inconsistent weather that is the beginning of fall; you're still wearing shorts, so you won't be too hot, but the tights are great for the chill early and later in the day! Confession: I can't tie a proper bow like this for the life of me. My sister tied this for me, lol. I'm never without my gold Fossil watch, and I've been wearing it every day since it arrived in the mail! ...and this tassel saddle bag is quickly becoming a staple. Best ten bucks I've spent at a vintage store. Ever. OTK boots are everything for fall. If you don't already own a pair, do yourself a favor and invest in a good pair--totally worth it. They're sleek and sexy, you can really add some oomph to any outfit just by sliding a pair of these bad boys on! Menswear meets sleek and chic is such a fun look to wear; it's comfortable, easy for running around, and it's such a fashionable look. It's a great way to turn that plain while button up into something other than boring, typical office wear. Fall is by far my favorite season; I love the changing of the leave, the cool temps, sweaters, riding boots, and HALLOWEEN! I bought this Vince Camuto vest last fall, and I LOVE it! The quilted detail and the gold and suede give the vest an equestrian feel...which happens to go great with these riding leggings and boots. I've only ridden a full grown horse once in my life, but I love the sleek, elegant look of equestrian style pieces (I think the leggings with the suede patches on the inner thigh make my legs look thinner, a big ol' plus in my books!). Basically, I love everything about the equestrian inspired look (that old-world, elegance makes my inner history nerd swoon). Don't mind the hair change, lol. My hair doesn't take kindly to the rain, so it had to go up into a big ol' bun! These Nine West boots are an oldie, but goodie (a Christmas present from my mom a few years ago); they're my number one fall staple. As soon as the temperature drops, I wear them almost every day until the temperatures go back up again. A good pair of riding boots are definitely a great investment piece because you can wear them everyday of fall and even winter! They give your fall outfits a little more of a polished feel. I was looking through the pictures today and found this gem. It was raining this morning when we took this and a gust of rain hit me right in the face, I swear I wasn't having a tantrum or anything, haha! So if you needed a good laugh today, here's a blooper that I just had to share with you guys because it was waaaaay to funny to keep hidden in my phone. I've been showing it to all my friends because frankly, I'm hilarious, haha. Shop my look, here! And for more preppy fall fashion, swing by my Pinterest board for some ideas! I've talked about my favorite local vintage shop...a lot. As a history major/fashionista I absolutely love vintage fashion from previous eras; one of my favorites is the 40s and 50s. A year of two ago my younger sister introduced me to Paper Doll Vintage Boutique, a little vintage shop on Main St., in Sayville, Long Island. Now, Rachel and I go at least once a month (sometimes we'll go two or three times!). We actually go so often, and I'm forever tagging or posting about the shop, that they recognize me from my Insta posts (insert blushing emoji and fangirl squeal of excitement, here haha) when I walk into the store! I think the reason why we go back (and so often!) is because it's such a fun and inviting place to be! The staff there, especially owner, Dominique, are so sweet to everyone that walks in; and they're so passionate and knowledgeable about their products and vintage fashion in general. They have everything; both vintage and vintage inspired! Hats, bags, clothes, shoes; you name it, they've got it! I'm addicted to their sunnies, and I just picked up the cutest turban (totally the new beanie); I plan to go back to get more of each! So, I think a post, sharing this treasure is overdue! I LOVED this gingham romper, but alas, it was not meant to be (AKA, my butt was too big for it, haha). Even though it didn't really fit right, I felt like a pin up star in it! I'm definitely keeping my eye out for another (slightly bigger) one to put away for next summer! Peace! I'm not really sure if I can rock these round sunnies, but they're bubblegum pink and I think I'd wear them anyways--they're too fun not to wear! I've gotten quite a few things from the shop over the past few months that I absolutely adore. I've also tried on a few things as well, that I loved, but couldn't justify buying because I had nowhere to wear them (*sigh* broke girl problems), but I had a ton of fun trying them on and daydreaming regardless! 1. Tortoise shell cat eye glasses Like my pin-up wannabe pose? haha :D 2. Black cat eye sunnies If you follow me on Insta (here!), then you know how much I love these sunnies. They've been my summer staple, and I wear them everywhere! I like their plain black matte color, because it's classic, and the shape is just to die for. As a devoted winged-liner girl (going on ten years!), I also love a good cat eye. pic from this post here; also feat. in this post here, here, here, here, annnnd here...so far! 3. White Heart shaped sunnies (sadly, broken) pic from this post! 4. Kate Spade Blazer! I haven't seen too many blazers in this gorgeous green color, and the shape is awesome; the asymmetrical collar, and the longer length...I'm in love. pic from this post here, and also feat. here! 5. Straw hat with black ribbon, A.K.A. Madeline's hat, plus a ton of other vintage hats that I wish I had somewhere to wear! This straw hat in particular has been one of my favorite pieces I've seen at the shop! It reminded me of vintage French fashion...which I guess is why I refer to it as the Madeline hat. The little bow in the back is just darling, and the simple shape of the hat and it's straw material, makes the hat great for summer/spring...or a great vacation hat (a vacation to France!!!). 6. Swan print skirts and petticoats! 7. Peep that chandelier action! The whole shop is so beautifully decorated; filled with art from local artists, a gorgeous chandelier, and racks and displays filled with vintage treasures! So if you're ever on the Island (Long Island, for all you out-of-staters! lol), make some time to stop by! And if you're too far to make a trip, check out their site (and their Etsy shop!)! :) Do you have a favorite local shop that you can't get enough of? :)

Umm, I'm completely dying over aerie's spring collection! It's giving me a serious case of wanderlust; I don't have any vacations planned at the moment, but the bright colors and fun prints are making me want to book the first flight to somewhere tropical! Here's some of my favorites from the new collection (links below)! This matching gingham top and bottom set is seriously the most darling thing ever. I love the retro vibes of the crop top and high waisted shorts; and the gingham is a major must have for a vintage summer! This sailboat bra top and flare pants is another favorite look of mine with pieces from the collection. I can tell that my summer wardrobe is definitely going to be vintage inspired! Have you checked out aerie's new spring collection yet? :) Shop my spring favorites, here!
Lately I've been trying to get more creative with my locations for shooting blog pictures. Sometimes it's hard to find cool spots when you live in the suburbs and there's not much around; but I've come to learn that it's not so much where you shoot, but how you shoot in those spots. And now that the weather's finally getting super nice out (I am so over the snow and the cold), it's been so much nicer to go outside and shoot blog pictures. It's also given me a chance to really explore my town and find new and exciting places to shoot! I've never really taken any time to look around there, and really just go right over the bridge without any thought. A few weeks ago I got the idea to do an outfit post shoot at the marina; then, the other day I went back again because the weather was unbelievable beautiful. Instead of where I shot last time (check this post to see!), I wandered in the other direction, towards the bridge, and found an uh-maze-ing location to shoot at--what a hidden gem!! I felt like I was in a totally different place than my own town! I'm definitely looking forward to more beautiful weather to discover more locations all over my town to shoot at! Fun fact: one of my favorite ways to shop is to thrift! My sister and I started really bonding as we got older and one of the things we like to do together is to hit thrift shops! Thrifting is great for any of you fellow fashion thrill seekers who like the rush of finding an awesome bargain. Plus, what's better than scoring a ton of amazing designer labels for next to nothing?! I found it at Savers for only seven bucks! Can you believe it? If you haven't gone thrifting ever, Savers is a great place to start, it's not as overwhelming as many places can be. Everything is super organized and it's much easier to find things than at most places. But try and go when you have enough time to spare, because once you make your first awesome find, you'll quickly turn into a treasure hunter in there, and time flies fast! I've found all sorts of goodies shopping at Savers: Kate Spade, J. Crew, and Lily Pulitzer just to name a few! Even better? Bring in your gently used donations and receive a coupon! They always have some sort of coupon when you donate; usually like 10-30% off, or sometimes they have rewards cards that you get stamped each time you go and then it adds up to a coupon---it varies, so make sure to ask when you go in! Anyone else love a good thrift find? :D
You would never know it just driving through my town, but I only live ten minutes away from the ocean...ten! It's a straight shot down the main highway, and voila, the beautiful beach! I can't believe it took me so long to use one of these beautiful spots as a space for shooting outfit pictures! After being super stressed out about work, I got a surprise package in the mail from Fossil; aren't packages in the mail just the best?? It's like your birthday or Christmas just came early! They sent me the prettiest seafoam colored bag from their newest collection, and the first thing I thought of was summer and the ocean! So I headed over to one of the marinas near the beach (if you look hard enough you can see the big bridge in the background that takes you over to the beach!)! I love how long and skinny these Lucky Brand booties (an awesome Poshmark find!), paired with my black jeggings, make my legs look! It's a great trick, pairing black pants with black boots give you the illusion of having legs for days (the same works when you wear nude heels--pointed toes the way to go in my book--and your bare legs)!! And this suede lace up top?! I've been looking all over for a suede lace up top that I actually like (sometimes, but kinda a lot, I'm super picky with my clothes...haha) , and I finally found this one on Nasty Gal and I'm in love!! The cut isn't so deep and open that it's overly revealing, and the laces can be tightened or loosened to show off a little more or less. Umm, and it's silky soft, so you're gonna wanna just go ahead and put that in your shopping bag; you're welcome. :-P Who else is on the suede craze bandwagon?! :)

I'm totally taking a page out of Kim K's book with my recent duster jacket obsession (I already have three...sorrynotsorry); they're the super chic version of a pullover (they're comfy, but polished). This is definitely one bandwagon you're gonna wanna hop on! ;) I have to admit, as much as I love shopping, I hate spending a lot of money on cosmetics; when I splurge on them, it's usually for an Essie polish (because they have the absolute BEST colors!). It's extremely rare that I spend more than $10 on any one cosmetic (my favorite liquid liner that I've been using for the last ten years only cost about $3, and I swear by it!). I'd just rather put the extra money towards a nicer piece of clothing instead. I mixed two different shades to get this dark berry color; together, both lipsticks cost under $10 (L'Oréal 'Raisin Rapture' + NYC Cosmetics 'Mahogany'). You definitely don't need to break the bank to achieve a great berry lip for fall! It's been so hard to find a pair of these lace up flats for a decent price! I found this pair on Poshmark and was able to buy them with my earnings from selling pieces from my closet (such a good way to clean out your closet and get new clothes all at the same time...and it's ridiculously easy!).
