Accept, long-standing legendary German titans of heavy metal, are back with a fiercely awaited new studio album, entitled Humanoid, to be released on the 26th of April, 2024. Humanoid is a towering musical achievement and another world class entry in the Accept catalog, certain to rally fans from around the world. Accept have never shied away from hot button issues, and this album is no exception. The band's 17th studio album is certainly not a concept album, yet it deals with topics like AI and how our reliance upon technology is gradually stripping away individuality. Since singer Mark Tornillo will never be an advocate for the digital age, he counterbalances the title track with raw emotions, frailties, significant Rites of Passage we encounter on the path of life and characteristics that make us uniquely human: feeling uncomfortable, getting older, dealing with hurt, disappointment, and the final stop for everyone: death. Humanoid is a ferociously electrifying, dynamic and subtly nuanced platter with tongue in cheek humor.1 Diving Into Sin2 Humanoid3 Frankenstein4 Man Up5 The Reckoning6 Nobody Gets Out Alive7 Ravages of Time8 Unbreakable9 Mind Games10 Straight Up Jack11 Southside of Hell

Who got the funk? Professor Shorthair got the funk, no question! On the third (and final?) entry in the Nola Breaks 45 series, the good Professor comes through with a sureshot re-work of the Meters classic "Hand Clapping Song" with added breaks and scratches to take the funk level over the top. On the flip, Ernie K-Doe's "Here Come The Girls" gets treated to a similar re-work and is guaranteed to bring all ladies out on the floor. Pressed up on colored 45. Don't miss it! colored vinyl pressing music label: Superjock Records 2016 reviewed by Buck Strickland 02/2016

Lab exclusivo!! Leon Michels circles back on 2005’s Sounding Out The City, the sound that put us onto El Michels Affair in the first place. The ensuing years saw Michels co-found Big Crown Records with Akalepse, amass a seemingly unending rap sheet of stellar session work and a pair of Wu-Tang-focused cover records which took big band hip-hop worship to new levels, making Adult Themes his first full-length return to original compositions since SOTC. It’s evident before you even take off the shrink wrap that this one’s the result of a healthy binge on french psych pop library sleaze a la Melody Nelson, Le Mariage Collectif, etc. Opener “Enfant” is the mise en scène with summery acoustic guitar plucks, blaxploitation flute and some highly evocative cooing from the faceless Birkin to Michel’s Serge (don’t quote me but I’m almost certain its shorty from The Shacks based on her hushed cadence and the Big Crown connection). Centerpiece “Life Of Pablo” begins with the shriek of a newborn baby (Michels’ kid), slowly settling into the sort of gargantuan stadium-sized cop funk that Just Blaze would have lost his shit over in 2002. The album’s grander suites are garnished with a smattering of byte-size pizzicato weirdness and single-serving breakbeats. This the type of shit that makes me want to dust off my sampler and start making beats again. Magnifique! Vinyl records are sensitive. They can easily get scratched and if dust gets into the grooves or the stylus, your albums will skip too much for an enjoyable session. These records are also expensive and hard to find, especially if you’re looking for a specific artist or soundtrack. So when you’re investing in a vinyl

The Associates were a Scottish post-punk and pop band, formed in Dundee in 1979 by singer Billy Mackenzie and guitarist Alan Rankine. The group first gained recognition after releasing an unauthorized cover of David Bowie's "Boys Keep Swinging" as their debut single in 1979, which landed them a contract with Fiction Records. They followed with their debut album The Affectionate Punch in 1980 and the singles collection Fourth Drawer Down in 1981, both to critical praise. They achieved commercial success in 1982 with the UK Top 10 album Sulk and UK Top 20 singles "Party Fears Two" and "Club Country", during which time they were associated with the New Pop movement. In my opinion, this record is a must. Inventive, arty, pop songs that sound like nothing before them. Billy Mackensie's voice is one of the most unique of his era. Not a bad song on this. In near mint condition. Situation Two label. First pressing.
