Hello There ! A nice relaxed weekend for me this week, I hope yours is the same. It`s colour week over at the Simply Less is More Challenge and this time we have a fab combination of GREEN & GOLD I got a bit carried away and made 3 cards This one I`m more pleased with than the others. I started by sponging 3 different green inks onto white card and cutting out the circles with a Nestie die. The leaf is Poppystamps Lorelai Leaf cut from gold mirror card The Smile word is from Penny Black also cut from gold card This one is made from 2 shades of green and some gold paper with fern leaves punched out The sentiment is Waltzing Mouse stamped in clear ink and embossed in gold EP This one is my least favourite The stamp is from Penny Black stamped and embossed in gold EP onto dark green card. I made a panel for the front of my card and cut a circle into it with a nestie die. The sentiment is by Creative Expressions also embossed in gold EP My craft room needs some serious reorganisation. At the moment I`m at the sitting and looking at it stage. When I work out where to start I`ll let you know . Thanks for popping in...Lynne xxx

Hello, Happy Saturday everyone! Today’s card I created for this week’s CASology challenge, Our cue card / challenge at CASology this week is "Congratulations". I wanted to create a soft and elegant look for this wedding day congratulations card, I ended up choosing Basic Gray, White Linen and Silver for today’s colour combination. I started today’s project by making an A2 top folding card out of Basic Gray cardstock, Using my We R Memory Keepers Trim & Score Board to do all my trimming and paper scoring. Using My Favorite Things Die-Namics Blueprints die set 23, I die cut a banner for my sentiment out of Trophee Board White Linen cardstock, I then stamped my banner using the Best Birds Stamp Set from Stampin’ Up!, stamping the word congratulations in Smoky Slate ink. Next I used the My Favorite Things Die-Namics Blueprints die set 22, I then die cut a thin strip of Silver Glimmer Paper to sit under my banner, for the last of the die cutting I used the Hollyhocks die from Impression Obsession to die cut some flowers out of Trophee Board White Linen cardstock. To add a bit of interest to the card, and to help the die cut elements stand out from the card base I adhered a small messy bundle of Silver Metallic Thread under all the die cut pieces, for my last finishing touch to the card I also added a few Pearl Basic jewels around the focal area. Another quick and easy card to make - three die cuts, thread and some pearls! I hope you enjoyed this CAS (clean and simple) congratulations card. When I first started cardmaking, I was clueless as to styles and genres and it was only after I started my blog that I settled on my preferred style which is Clean and Simple. I bought all sorts of bits and bobs, and lots of the designer papers I bought have since been donated to a charity shop which has a craft section. I guess it took a period of experimentation to discover what really appealed to me. Now that the shops are opening up again following Lockdown, I shall probably be taking another contribution of stamps, dies and punches etc to the shop. I really need to de-clutter! I wish my room looked as clear as my cards! For this one, I began by making a watercolour background, by splodging a little paint with some water on watercolour paper. I die cut a few delicate sprigs in plain white card and just one in gold. I wanted the sentiment to tie in with the other die cuts and so chose this one from Simply Graphic, a company in France (... hence the language). I think that the thickness of the lettering matches well with the delicacy of the stems. I don't remember the make of the foliage and I can't put my finger on the packaging either. I think that it is possibly Alexandra Renke. Always Fun Challenges - Clean and Simple
Create Abstract Art Cards that can be used for any occasion.
Hi there, I`m back after being MIA for a while. I`ll explain later. First though I`d like to say a big welcome to Rachel. Thank you for following my blog. This week at Simply Less is More is a colour challenge and it is to use Earth Tones. I love the rich autumnal colours and couldn`t wait to get stuck in, The blocks of colour are actually some that I did for watercolour week but didn`t get time to use, so I thought I`d put them to good use today. I`ve sponged the edges and corners with inks to give them some depth and then a slight spray of gold spritzing ink. The die is Memory Box Flutter Vine cut from some patterned green DP but the pic doesn`t do it justice. I`ve added some bronze coloured pearls and a sentiment from Waltzing Mouse. So I haven`t been around much and I apologise for my lack of commenting. There I am sorting, pricing and boxing cards for the summer fayre when a rotten cold bug decided to pay a sudden visit. Then it took up residence in my sinus`s and on my chest and laid me low for over a week. I did manage to do the fayre but it was such a cold miserable day I don`t think I did myself any good really. I`m feeling much better now, just a nasty lingering cough but it`s so tiring. Anyway I`m on the mend so I`ll be posting a bit more often this week. Not sure how much we raised at the fayre yet but Hull City Council decided to put the Lord Mayors Parade and a free party to celebrate Hull getting City of Culture status on the same day so the turnout was pretty poor. Such a shame because a lot of people had put alot of effort in. I think we`re going to try and organise something else at a later date. Thanks for popping in...Lynne xxx
It seems a while since I got down to making a few cards for challenges, and today I thought I might just have to chance, but I decided to upgrade to Windows 10, which was somewhat time-consuming and equally frustrating and probably a mistake. It seems that I no longer have the ability to scroll down a page using two fingers on my touch pad. I have searched the internet for a solution, which to date has been fruitless, however I still managed to make a card! This was made with a scrap of card left over from some inky experiments which I decided to over-stamp with some butterflies and grunge dots and emboss in gold. I cut the banner and the square with MFT pierced dies and added the die-cut Memory Box butterfly and sentiment. I thought a little Cuttlebug dry embossing added just a touch of texture to the banner. It follows the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches and is also for Casology Wings plus Addicted to CAS Banners and finally for Just Us Girls Autumn (Autumn colours) This is me in Spain last week about to go out for a meal to celebrate my 70th birthday. We had a fabulous time !

Do you ever get those times when you know you have something that you need to use, but don't quite know where to look or how to find it? When I saw the challenge from Just US Girls ...I knew that I must have a stamp which mentioned kindness, but it took me quite a while to find this one from SSS. It actually came with a variety of 'thanks' stamps but I preferred to use a die which said 'thank you'! The music manuscript paper which I used for the large leaves was from a scan I took of a very old book of contralto songs, (selected by Madame Clara Butt, so that kinda dates it) which turned out to be a mistake for the card it was planned for. However I found a use for it with this card. The paper is considerably yellowed with age, but I think my printer added a little to that. I die-cut the skinny frame and then tore a piece of mulberry paper to go behind it, adding the sprigs of leaves and finally stamping the sentiment. I thought a few random pearls wouldn't go amiss so I added a few of those.
I love square cards, but somehow it seems a little wasteful. I cut my card blanks from sheets of A4 which is roughly 8.25ins x 11.75ins. I use the card folded in half widthways and cut to a square. There is always a strip left... I have a drawer full of strips and seldom get to use all of them! If I cut rectangular cards I can get two cards from one sheet of A4. The challenge at Just US Girls is to make a square card and use at least one additional square. I began by cutting a square from a piece of card that I had smooshed some colours onto, I think it was Brushos but the scrap had been in my left overs drawer for ages so I'm not 100%positive that this is what I did! When I get messy with lots of colours, I take prints on lots of pieces of card and keep them filed away in colour coded drawers until I find a use for them. Next, I die-cut two, square frame, flower dies and layered them to add definition, and adhered them over the coloured square. I flooded the tile with Nuvo Crystal Glaze and added some gems which had been self adhesive at one time, but which has lost their 'stickability'. This seemed like a good way to use them! I die cut two additional pieces of card, from scraps, to mount the tile onto. The flower die and the diagonal slashed die are from Pink Fresh Studios and the stitched one from SSS. This is one of my scraps' drawers, you can see the piece of card which I cut the base square for this card from and I'm too mean to throw the rest away! I hope everyone is staying safe through these extraordinary times, I really hope that people will heed the Government's pleas to stay home this coming holiday weekend, although for people without their own outdoor space it must be very difficult. Take care everyone!

It has been ages since I made a gatefold card (in fact, I can't even remember ever making one), so I decided to make one using some new floral dies in my stash (you might remember these dies from another card I shared recently). Plus I needed to make a fancy Birthday card, so this
Here is Simon Wednesday Challenge - Recycle It, below is the challenge photo: I used my different shades of purple cardstock scraps and die cut them to make this card for the challenge: I used Spellbinders' Be Bold Blooms dies set to die cut different shades of purple cardstock scraps to assemble the focal arrangement. I gold embossed "happy birthday" (from Simon Says Stamp's Birthday Balloons stamps set) at the bottom of the card. Finish the card by attaching some purple glitter drops (from Pinkfresh Studio) on the background. Below is another look of the card: Supplies: Cardstock: MFT, Gina K Designs, Simon Says Stamp Ink Pad: Versamark Stamp: Simon Says Stamp Dies: Spellbinders Others: gold embossing powder, foam tapes, glitter drops Thank you for visiting my blog.
