Ten tiny fingers, ten tiny toes... My mom, SILs, & I are going to be hosting a baby shower for a cousin-in-law of mine, who recently had a baby boy. Guess who was on invitation duty? ;-) I thought on it for awhile, and came up with something I liked...assembly was the "easy" part. It was all the cutting, stamping, embossing, etc...that took all my time! :) Ready for the end result? OK. :) Everything is SU except for the baby feet stamp. I got that AGES ago (10 years??) when I started stamping, and it's one of my non-SU stamps I've kept for such an occasion. ;-) Supplies: Bashful Blue & Whisper White cardstock, Big Shot, Polka dot embossing folder, Bashful Blue gingham ribbon Well, what do you think? I'd love to hear from you! :) Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a GREAT day! :) Crystal

Oh boy.. I have lots of photos to share today. I had my art group girls over yesterday for some fun. We haven't met in a while so I was really excited about it. I even took time to do some of the things I love to do, like decorate and bake. I love a theme party! I'm sure you'll be able to guess what this theme is. lol lol... so the first picture just happens to be of "boughten" cupcakes. Really I did bake a couple of things, but I crabbed these the day before at the store... not sure how things would go for me "time wise". They were to festive to pass up anyway. The drinking glasses had test tubes filled with goodies in them. Instead of looking in the (very picked over) Halloween isle at Hobby Lobby, I went to the Christmas isle. It was surprising how much silver and black there is there. All of the things hanging on the light were from the Christmas isle. We are a pretty low key group.. so nothing fancy food wise is expected by any meansit seems there is always way..to snack on ..none the less. We had apples with Carmel dip, mini pumpkin muffins, cookies, chips and salsa, crackers with meat and cheese, ect.. oh and hot cider. I had so much to do the night before but it was Dans day off so he wanted me to watch a movie. I have SUCH a hard time sitting and watching TV without doing something else. I don't know why , but it drives me crazy.. lol Anyway, I decided to busy myself while sitting there. I punched two different sized circles out of black and orange cardstock and glued them back to back on this thin black ribbon to make this long garland that I hung in the window. It was really quick, simple and fun.. so I'm thinking I'll be doing this for other occasions also! There was lots of chatting and creating going on around this table yesterday afternoon. It was great to have my sis Jan be able to join us now. Left to right Deb, Stephanie, Paula ,Jan and I. I'll show you the projects we worked on. I don't think any of us got ours finished before the end of the day..because we did alot of chatting. lol.. but I finished mine up to show you today. I had gotten some of these small decorative dowels when I was at Junk Bonanza. I was wishing I had picked up more, but Stephanie found a link to a place that sells them HERE I had them in mind for making fairies on spools like I've done so many times before, but this time we mixed it up a bit and used them a number of different ways. The large one in the background is a wooden candlestick that I altered. I'll show more of that , down further in this post. This is one of the darling little fairy girls from the Crafty Secrets "Altered Fairies" sheet of Creative Scraps. Look at the darling little book she is holding. The little book is now on the new Double sided Sheets. The wooden stars I hot glued to the tops of the other ones, are about a quarter of an inch think, so I used fine glitter on the edges. I then hot glued smaller size clothes pins to the backs to that they could be card, or photo holders. I wanted to be able to keep these out in my room all year long..but you could see how fun they would be for different holidays. Fun note holders or place card holders?? So once I started digging in my big box of wood pieces I found these candle sticks and some big (rounded end) clothes pins. This would be a fun photo holder...but for now it's holding the cool vintage Bingo cards that Steph gave us. Loving these bingo cards!! You know how I adore vintage trims. so... thought I would add some to this ...just so I could enjoy looking at them. The round piece that is altered with papers is one of the paper discs that make up a ribbon spool. It makes a kind of "Shelf". I cut and covered it with some of my favorite papers and then cut a scalloped edge with my decorative scissors, to add around the edge of it. I couldn't resist making a Christmas one with this darling little image from the Crafty Secrets Double sided "Christmas" Creative Scraps. I had a couple of old green wooden spools, that make me think of Christmas the minute I saw them. I added the little white fence to it. Some of the dowels I painted and some I left natural.( I'm totally sure Glimmer Mist would work wonderful on these also) So .. below is the first project that was the inspiration for the other. I did these for the Fancy Pants Blog this week, using one of the brand new paper lines. "Hot Chocolate". You can see this project and all the other projects that are posted on the Fancy Pants blog using this new line ... AND the other new line "Love Birds" ohhhhh SO CUTE! I used my fine glue pen to highlight the design elements on the paper with glitter. These will be so fun to set out for the holidays. Boy I tossed alot at you in that one post didn't I? lol Sorry, but a girls gotta share. lol It was great fun to have the girls here this time. I look so forward to the creative inspiration I get when we are all together sharing. This was a low key day of crafting, which we all agreed we needed. Next time Paula will be teaching us Zetti. I just love the look of it ..but boy it will me a challenge for me. Bright Bold colors, painting, and lots of free hand drawing... hmmmm.... I'm always talking about challenging yourself and stepping out of your comfort zone... well, I'll certainly "be there". lol You can see some of it here on Paulas blog. ********************************************************************* Okay friends... I hope you enjoy the weekend and have a HAPPY HALLOWEEN!! + boo

A few of my dear friends gave birth this past week and rather than bombard them with unsolicited advice, I thought I’d share with the internet. You’re welcome. Dear new mama, You just brought life into this world and it was work. You should be so proud of yourself. You are beautiful and so is your sweet babe. It’s normal to feel overwhelmed by the love you feel for your child. Or just overwhelmed. Watching your partner hold your baby for the first time will make you feel like the heart-eyed emoji. There is no better feeling than that first...

Today we talked about the important role of firefighters. Our craft project was based on a poem called "Five Little Firefighters." I got the idea from KidsSoup, but because I'm not a member I only had a tiny picture to go by. So I just made it up as best I could. Yesterday I got a red hand print from all of the kids. I was so happy with myself for remembering to put the print near the top of the paper to leave room for the poem below. I completely forgot I needed to leave room at the top for the heads and hats! Oops! Oh well, it was an easy fix. I just cut out the hand prints and put them on another piece of paper. Then the kids used a glue stick to add heads to the fingertips. The heads are just circles I traced from a marker cap onto a few different colors of paper. Then they glued on firefighter hats. The hats are a little silly. I did the best I could. I made two kinds, one with a short rim on one side and a long rim on the other (like the firefighter is looking sideways) and the other one with two short rims (as if the firefighter is looking straight ahead). But that was unnecessary because the kids didn't pay attention to that when they drew on the faces. So I would say you only need one kind of hat. After drawing faces, the kids drew arms -- basically just red lines coming off the fingers. Finally, they drew the hose, which started at the pinky and went to the thumb. And then they used a glue bottle and blue glitter (say that 5 times fast!) to make the water coming out of the hose. I added a copy of the poem to the bottom of the paper. These turned out pretty cute! Here's the poem I used: Five little firefighters sleeping in a row. Ring goes the bell, down the pole they go. They jump on the engine and put out the fire. Now they're back home, but they sure are tired. **Linking up to TGIF Linky Party at Living Life Intentionally!**

Hi All! Today I want to share with you something that I have been meaning to show you for a while now. I'm talking about Baby Feet! I think Baby Baby Feet are the cutest things ever. Don't worry, it's not a foot fetish... I don't like all feet, only tiny ones ;) So even before Pinterest was around I had made these shadow boxes of both my children's feet! The one on the left is my son Tomas' at 1 month old (2004) and the one on the right is my daughter Maia's feet also at one month old (2006). They are both soooo very different! The 8x10 frames I used below were bought at IKEA. Now that my kids are older they love to see how small they really were. Today I will share with you how to make your own. You may want to pin this if you have a baby in your life or on its way! Those little tiny feet eventually get huge and not so cute, so if you want to remember how they used to be you might want to give this craft a try! Very good friends of ours recently had a baby, we were so thrilled when they asked Us to be his God Parents! As a gift to them, I wanted to make little Cristiano his own Baby Feet Shadow Box. Here is how you can make your own... You will need two people for this project. (Dad can hold baby, while mom gets crafty, lol!) You will need a 3D Mold Kit. The one I used was by Precious Impressions that I bought at Micheal's Craft Store. Follow the instructions as directed to create your 3D impression. Once your impressions have dried, carefully remove the mold. It just peels right off. Because I wasn't too concerned about the top of the feet, those air bubbles don't really bother me. You can always go back and fill those air bubbles in with more plaster. With a serrated knife I carefully shaved the top of the feet to the depth of my shadow box. You may at this point also sand an smooth down any imperfections that turned up from your molding process (bumps, air bubbles). Once I knew they would fit in the shadow box I brushed the excess dust off with a paintbrush. Next, I took some white acrylic paint and covered the entire surface of each foot. (Bottom first until dry and then the tops). You may want to do two coats to ensure proper coverage. Paint will dry quickly because of the plaster being so porous. This step is optional but it will seal your feet forever... In a well-ventilated room, place your feet on some cardboard or newspaper. Spray your feet with a sealant Gloss Spray Sealant. If you don't like the gloss look there are mate sealants available. Let the feet completely dry. Once they are completely dry, you are ready to frame them! (I waited another 24 hours). Here is a close up of the tiny foot! Not so tiny zoomed in, but you can see all his little creases and bumps on his feet. To mount them in the frame I used hot glue and adhered it to card stock. Before framing the feet I etched Cristiano's name into the glass. Click here for a tutorial of glass etching. Here is the finished Shadow Box. Love how it turned out! Aren't those little feet so precious? The possibilities are endless with these molds. Frame whatever you like, now that you know how! I hope this has inspired you to capture some of your own memories! A Keepsake that your child will treasure forever. If your kids are older, it's not too late! Make one of them now or do the whole family (Hands, feet whatever you want to frame)... years from now they will see how small they were at that point in time! Thanks so much for stopping by! Happy Crafting :)
