Lord Sixth Customs has been making amazing customs for many years now. Dad once featured his customs back in 2015 in one of his features for "Darth Daddy's Customizing Corner". What we always loved about this artist was his focus on the creatures of the Star Wars universe. When he recently made one of his latest creations available to a small number of collectors, we jumped at the chance to own one of his creations. The Orray were one of the cooler creatures to appear in "Attack of the Clones". The Geonosian battle arena was filled with several eye-catching beasts, but while Hasbro did a stellar job bringing the gladiatorial creatures to life, the larger service creatures like the Orray were not found on toy store shelves. Orrays appeared across the screen present in the background amid all the action both being ridden by their Geonosian mounts as well as being seen pulling the chariot transporting Senator Padmé Amidala and Jedi Anakin Skywalker into the arena as they openly confessed their love for each other and shared a kiss. When building a diorama and recreating the scene at home, we felt that the Orray made by Lord Sixth Customs was a necessary addition to any Prequel collection. The paint and handcrafted accessories are meticulously executed in this piece. From the detailed paintwork on the creature's eye's down to the leather work throughout. We can't express how fortunate we feel to have this piece added to our collection. Scott Cherry aka Barbarian Rage Toys has been making toys for over a year now. We were fortunate to come across his toys on Facebook and when we heard about the limited edition launch of his "X-Ray R2-D2" action figure, we were probably the first person to make a purchase when the figure was available for purchase. Since the figure's launch there have been several variations that were released from a bloody version to a glow-in-the-dark internal skeleton figure. All of them were eye catching. Barbarian Rage Toys continues to release these limited edition runs of unique retro figures from franchises like Star Wars, Masters of the Universe, and other influences from the 80s - early 90s. His figures are all hand painted and sculpted. We recommend frequently visiting his Facebook page or Instagram to see what he has in store for us all next. Also be sure to check out his comic strip! This year I used some of my birthday money to purchase some items from Empire Toy Works to enhance my diorama displays. In the mail, I received a variety of really cool replicas of some Star Wars crates, generators and barrels that I absolutely love. I highly recommend checking out this artists eBay page for not only the cool accessories he has available, but also to see his gorgeous wooden Star Wars dioramas that I hope to own one day! Quite some time ago, we came across some very cool custom Star Wars action figure displays on eBay. We thought that they were the perfect backgrounds to display the custom action figures that we make for the blog. It was then that we learned about the Star Wars custom artist that went by the name thecardboardgalaxy. We received our first three backgrounds in the mail and were so impressed with the products being offered, we buy his new displays every chance we get. Check out our most recent acquisitions below of Han Solo's Eravana corridor, Ach To, and Jedha displays. If you want to catch the eyes of your peers, a nice background is key to your overall presentation, even if it is just a clean solid background color. We highly recommend these displays to custom action figure artists that want to display their finished action figure art in all its glory. If you spend hours working on a figure it deserves a good photoshoot with a nice background to complement it. Good backgrounds are something we can't stress enough to artists just starting out. For this year's Pride month, my dad surprised me with a set of action figures from THE 3D PANDA. Customs of Flix and Orka from the animated TV Series Star Wars Resistance. Hasbro's action figure collection from the show was a bit lackluster and could have benefited from being fleshed out a bit more with some additional characters from the show like Neeku, Tam, and the rest of the Ace pilots. That is why Flix and Orka are such wonderful additions to my shelves. I always enjoyed the diversity of Star Wars, and to see Lucasfilm actively try to include LGBTQ+ characters in the Star Wars universe is something I greatly appreciate. As a society we have made great progress when it comes to including minorities, and it warms my heart to know that my favorite Star Wars films, shows, and now my own shelves are no exception. The figures were purchased from the Etsy store of THE 3D PANDA. THE 3D PANDA is a husband/wife team of Norm Wilson and Christina Wilson from Knotts Island, North Carolina who make custom 3D printed action figures, displays, and more! Orka & Flix were a "Print-To-Order" listing. Once your order is placed, the figures will be printed and painted. They list their current lead-time on painted, "Print-To-Order" figures at 4 weeks. We couldn't be happier with these two custom Star Wars Resistance figures! Lots of bang for your buck in this set. Both action figures came with their own numbered trading card, and if you purchased both figures, you receive an exclusive trading card to complete the 3-carded set. Both Orka and Flix figures exhibited very well thought out designs. We loved how THE 3D PANDA handled the articulation by utilizing well-concealed magnetic joints. The paint was exceptionally applied also. Flix was a bit top heavy and would have had trouble standing on his own, but the artists wisely included two dabs of Blu-Tak to provide him with a firm stance eliminating any display concerns. The accessories included with each figures are pretty fabulous too and fit in the hands with some proper positioning. We highly recommend picking these up if you are a fan of the show or just Star Wars for that matter. "STAR WARS RESISTANCE" ORKA & FLIX created by THE 3D PANDA A third trading card is included if you order both figures at once to complete the 3-carded set. Orka comes with a wrench and Flix had a data pad, Orka has an articulating head as well as articulating shoulders and hips. Flix has articulating shoulders. PRIDE MONTH GIFTS FROM MY DAD He also got me the Pride Month variant cover for Marvel's War of the Bounty Hunters Issue #1, As well as Disney Parks R2-RN8W.
So I promised some close-up pictures of the Star Wars custom action figures that were under my tree this year. All these artists are already featured on our Customizer Spotlight archive page. So if you'd like to learn more about the artists being featured in this post, that's where to look. We'll at least give you links for the artists here so you can explore more of their work if you'd like. A simple, easy and cheap project that you can throw together with materials you can find around the house. This one is a great for parents trying to entertain their little ones when they are cooped up in the house and driving you a bit crazy. This project is much more advanced and is for a more seasoned "maker" who has an elaborate set-up with some of the latest technology available at their fingertips. For my birthday this year, Dad added a few more Clone Wars custom action figures made by Peak-OB1 Custom Creations to my collection. The first action figure is of a character fans were introduced to as early in the show as Season 1 while the other two custom action figures were of characters featured in the final season of the show. The first action figure, a custom Peppi Bow, features brilliant paintwork and a stunning sculpt, including a removable hat! The figure is so heavily modified, I can't even identify the parts used to construct the figure. Nevertheless, the craftsmanship is absolutely fantastic, and I am honored to say that she now graces my Clone Wars shelf with her presence. The other action figures are a set, the Martez sisters! Rafa Martez features her signature fur coat, and an especially beautiful paint job on her head, which appears to be a modified Clone Wars Shaak Ti head. Her necklace is a loose accessory, which is quite a feat, given the small size of the piece. Trace Martez comes with a pair of removable pilot goggles, and a wonderful sculpt. The hair, jacket, pants, and boots are all beautifully hand sculpted and painted to bring this work of art to life. The Martez sisters will make a fine addition to my collection! Every time I add a new Peak-OB1 Custom Creations figure to my collection, it's always such a thrill. His talents as an artist are always apparent in his work, and I find myself wanting to learn how to apply variations to his paint technique in my own work whenever I can. To see more of his work, watch our show, Customizing the Clone Wars, where we do in an depth analysis of each Clone Wars episode, as well as provide tutorials for making the custom figures that we produced of characters from each episode. Saving your Christamas money until March can have its benefits. At least it did for me. Sometime last year I saw this Yavin Base playset up for sale on eBay and at the time I just didn't have the money to purchase it. I was really excited when I saw that thecardboardgalaxy produced a second playset and had posted it up once more for purchase. This time I was sitting on a stack of money I received for Christmas and I quickly made the purchase. Dad fronted me and I quickly paid him back. I knew I would be getting a quality item from the backgrounds we had purchased from him and receiving his "Death Star Playset" as a gift. This is a handmade “Hidden Fortress” Playset kit in the style of classic vintage Kenner Star Wars toys with modern aesthetics. It is approximately 16” tall and 20” wide at the base! It includes several play environments for recreating scenes from the Yavin IV Rebel Base as seen in Star Wars IV: A New Hope, including: Tactical Room, Medal Ceremony Room (with pop-up stage,) Hangar Bay, Ops Center (with tactical screens and a “holotank” table), Temple Rooftop and a Rebel Guard Tower. It is made from chipboard and cardstock (like the real Palitoy Death Star playset from the 1970’s) with custom-printed details for maximum authenticity. The whole playset easily breaks down into flat pieces for storage and shipping. The kit I purchased included: · 3 Wall Panels · 3 Floor Panels · Holotank Table Accessory · Assembly Instructions This kit is perfect for displaying/playing with your Star Wars action figures, including figures from the upcoming ROGUE ONE movie! It is a simulation production toy, but not a real toy product. Each of these limited edition “Hidden Fortress” kits are hand-signed and numbered. Once they’re gone, they’re gone! So this is a bona-fide collectible piece of art as well. This project was created on commission for a client, and when I received the order, I couldn't have been more excited to make something new. This specific rendition of Ahsoka depicts her sporting her mechanic jumpsuit during her walkabout with the Martez sisters. This one will definitely hurt to send away since I still don't have one for my own collection. I'll have to remedy that very soon, so be sure to keep an eye out for her. Ahsoka Tano, no longer part of the Jedi Order is now totally alone. When we are introduced to Ahsoka's new life, we find her literally falling out of the sky on Coruscant in a full-blown crash landing onto the lower level 1313 due to a malfunctioning speeder bike. Ahsoka's misfortune leads to meeting the Martez sisters who provide the former Jedi with a fresh perspective on the Order at a time when she’s still grappling with her own wounded view of the peacekeepers of the galaxy. We loved the jumpsuit Ahsoka wore on this grand adventure that led to taking out Spice Lords and crossing paths with Bo Katan and Maul. For the build of the figure, I used the upper arms, elbows, torso and legs of a "Clone Wars" Legacy Collection Adventure Padmé, the forearms of a The Black Series Ahsoka Tano, and the head of the Shadow of the Dark Side Scuba Ahsoka. First we sanded off the vest of the torso of the Padme with a Dremel before starting the sculpt. The jumpsuit details and control panel on the left glove were fully sculpted, as well as her elongated Lekku and Montrals. After my sculpt dried, I just painted the figure based off of images from the episode, and then sealed it to protect my paint application.
