Be prepared to save time and have more fun in speech this year! These speech and language therapy lesson plans for back to school and fall cover TWELVE different back to school and fall themes including: back to school, all about me, apples, fall, leaves, fire prevention, pumpkins, squirrels and nuts, on the farm, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and football. For EACH theme, I have included two picture book titles, two crafts, and two activities. With 12 themes, that's 72 activities in total! These activities and crafts are fairly simple, and can be completed using basic materials including tape, paper plates, construction paper, scissors, glue, etc. Each theme contains: A theme overview page 2 pages with names of each craft, activity, and book for the entire packet 1 page overviews for each theme Detailed pages for the crafts and activities for each theme; there is a real picture of each craft and activity as well as ideas for how to modify them to meet a variety of articulation and language goal areas! Any additional printables for all of the crafts and activities Included in the packet is: Lesson plan file (78 pages) Articulation mini cards file (72 pages) Language mini cards file (17 pages) Editable theme overview pages (13 pages) All covering the following targets: Sequencing Describing Basic Concepts Verbs Prepositions Categories Comparing & Contrasting Object Functions Plurals MLU Antonyms & Synonyms WH Questions Whatever else you can think of!! Many of the crafts utilize mini cards, which are also included in the packet. The articulation mini cards contain 35 cards each for p, b, m, h, w, y, d, n, t, k, g, ng, f, v, ch, j, l, s-blends, s, z, sh, th, and r. All sounds have initial, medial, and final pages except: h, w, y (only initial), ng (only final), and r. The r section has a page for initial r, as well as 1 page each for air, ar, ear, er, ire, and or. The language mini packet contains cards targeting: verbs, adjectives, pronouns, and core vocabulary. There are 6 additional pages of cards containing pictures to describe (e.g., categories, function), compare and contrast, etc. If that’s not enough, I’ve included an editable file so you can add in the materials YOU love to use in an “Other” box on each theme overview page. These lesson plans work great for both individual and group sessions. I primarily work with children ages 1-8, with some older children who are minimally verbal or who use AAC. This works for my ENTIRE caseload, however I understand that this packet might not work for your entire caseload. If you have a child that you would do crafts, basic activities, and picture books with, I would recommend this product. _____________________________________________ Here's some reasons why other SLPs have loved this resource: ♥ ”What a GIGANTIC bundle of activities! This is truly a most user-friendly resource that can cover planning for your caseload for months!” - Karan C. ♥ ”I cannot tell you how excited I was to see this amazing resource. It is so thoughtfully created in the fact that activities target articulation, language, and can be adapted for AAC. I love that the crafts are simple, quick and get in lots of practice.” - Lisa H. ♥ ”This is so comprehensive! This is exactly what I need for Fall with my groups. I can easily substitute things that I like into the plans. So organized!! It's been quiet around here and that could only mean one thing...I've gone back to work. And I'm exhausted. Can I get an amen? But I have officially survived preplanning, the first week of school (AKA Scheduling), and the first week of therapy! All in a new school...which reminded me a lot of my first year of therapy ever. All new staff, new kids, new rules...it was all a little mind blowing. Wanna hear about it? Good, cause I've got a warm cup of coffee and I feel like chatting. Typing. You know.
The work load may never get lighter, but we can always find new resources that will help get the job completed with less stress and more smiles.

When you come across a fall themed book that engages each and every preschool speech and language student that you work with, you just have to share! I found this book to use during my Fall theme with my preschool students. It's called "Let it Fall." It is a simple rhyming book without many words on each page, but it has beautiful illustrations that are super engaging! I bought it for less than $3 on Scholastic.com! This book follows a family of five and their dog on their adventures in the fall. They rake leaves, go apple picking, go to a fall carnival, and go for a hike. The book allows for lots of discussion because of all of the activities that the characters are engaged in. Check out this page for some examples: On this page, I was able to help my language students expand their utterance length by stating what each person was doing. The dad and mom are both raking the leaves. The kids are jumping or laying in the leaves, and so is the dog. My articulation/phonological kids had fun naming items on the page. Mom, Dad, boy, girl, baby, dog, leaf, rake. There were words for everyone! This page is great too! Some kids are having a pie eating contest, some people are going on a hay ride, there are two men playing music, people are dancing, people are listening, there is a sack race, there is a pumpkin contest with a big pumpkin, the dog is sitting on the pumpkins. Oh, my! So many things to describe!!! Some of the words I used for my articulation/phonological students were: ton, pie, eat, sack, jump, hop, ride, (I have a lot of final consonant deleters) and really anything else we could find that fit their goals. The rest of the book is just as great as the pages above, and led to a huge variety of discussions based on needs in my groups. I just wanted to share this cute book with you in case you were looking for something fun to share with your preschool friends too. If you are looking for some activities that will use a lot of the words that are in this book, you could check out my Preschool Language Theme Packet for Fall. It is chock-full of activities to do with your Pre-K language students. You may also like this free packet that targets pronouns.
