Postcard view of the Woodies department store building at 11th and F Streets NW from about 1925. The original Woodies building at the center, known as the Carlisle Building, was constructed in 1887. Behind it (to the left) came the large 1902 addition, which features ornate cast iron piers. Another addition (to the right) came in the early 1920s. In 1926, the Carlisle building was demolished and the 1920s addition extended to fill the F Street side of the block.
