Aerial perspective: creates a sense of space through depicting the effects of atmospheric conditions these conditions effect our perception of shape, color, texture, value, and size Linear perspective: is the theory developed in the Renaissance based on the observation that parallel lines converge as they move into space. *the point where they converge is the Vanishing Point When drawing from life, the scene is translated from a set viewing position. The viewer's eye-level establishes the Horizon line: an imaginary horizontal line parallel to the viewers eyes. The vanishing point or points are set on the horizon line. 1 point perspective 1 point perspective is usually used in situations in which the subject is parallel or perpendicular to the picture plane. 2 point perspective- uses 2 vanishing points. 2 vanishing points are used when the subject(s) are oblique (slanting/sloping lines and planes that are neither parallel nor perpendicular) to the picture plane. As we step out of figure/ground drawings (positive/negative drawings) we progress into the VALUE drawings that builds 3 Dimensional space on a 2 dimensional surface. You will have several drawings this next week to complete. The Unmade Bed Drawings (One finished at the next Critique) The Paper Bag Drawings (One finished at the next Critique) The Egg Drawings (Done in your sketchbooks) These type of drawings create the illusion of space in the drawings. If the object is round then your drawing should depict that roundness/oval/visual. These type of sketches will take a little more investigation and a little more time in the drawing process. Paper drawings have a particular personality just as the drapery of the bed drawings. Each are very different in their touch and therefore their drawn appearance. Soft vs hard. The EGG DRAWINGS: Each of you will create a beautifully drawn (in graphite) egg drawing this next week as we begin a look at VALUE. Take a look at these well-crafted and drawn examples. This is using the Ebony graphite pencil and erasers. Graphite Drawings:
