OK, so this isn't in any way a gift box or a gift, but I wanted to show this tutorial in case anyone else wanted to create one. An Evil Queen costume is nowhere near complete without an evil-looking crown, and as I couldn't find one that I really liked, I chose to make one myself. Starting with 2 strips of black cardstock (250gsm recommended), 3cm wide, I glued the ends together so that it was big enough to sit on the crown of my head. I created a template for the next part, cutting out 6 small 'spikes' out of black cardstock, and 1 slightly taller 'spike' for the front: Using PVA glue, I attached each 'spike' to the crown as shown, making sure they were all evenly spaced. To the front, I glued on an extra piece of black cardstock (using the following template) to represent the familiar widow's peak. I then carefully drew a pattern all the way around the crown using 3D Clear Gloss Finish, making sure to seal all of the joins. To give it an aged metal look, I lightly applied silver ink to each of the edges and quickly blended it in with a sponge before it dried. (You could also try a textured look for your crown by following this tutorial.) Finally, to add some sparkle, I added several black and silver jewels to the front, and sprayed the whole crown with Spray and Shine. The finished crown. I hope you like it, and are inspired to create your own! If, however, you prefer to use an actual template, you can find one that I designed in my Etsy store.
OK, so I look at a lot of DIY ideas... I look at thousands a month and these are officially some of the most genius and lovely creations I have seen. I love my trusty glue gun but I had no idea you could make all these incredibly creative things with it. After all, glue

This crown is inspired by Queen Ravenna's Crown (Universal Pictures version) and consists of a digital downloadable with templates to print on cardboard, then cut, fold, and glue, in addition to personalizing it by decorating it according to your own style and taste. The instructions contain detailed and step-by-step information to achieve excellent results. You will need a printer and cardstock to build the design. If you do not have access to letter or A4 size cardboard, you can print it on bond paper and then paste it on the desired cardboard or re-use cardboard boxes. Follow this link for a how-to-make video of this crown: https://youtu.be/f5LcqMwTS14 To complete the design, you must have the following materials: • Access to a letter or A4 size printer. • 3 sheets of cardstock to print the templates, between 125 and 255gsm (conventional sheets are 75gsm) in letter or A4 size. If your printer doesn't allow printing on cardstock, print it on office paper and paste it on a cardboard preference (can be re-used carton) • Scissors or a cutter-type blade and a ruler. • To fold the pieces, we recommend a blunt object that allows marking the cardboard to facilitate the folding, as it is a pen without ink. We use a dull knife or bone folder. • Glue or adhesive for joining tabs and assembling the parts. You can use white school glue or quick-drying non-toxic glue for constructing the crown. A glue gun works well. Double-sided tape is also recommended as it is easy to handle and has no curing time. This design creates a unique family activity, to build with the little ones and create together. This is our reason for being and motivates every design idea. Experiment with materials and finishes to give a personal style to the design, and please, share your creation with us! Enjoy making and sharing time together. Perfect for Halloween costumes, this striking Evil Queen Crown is super easy to create! The templates come as SVG cut files, as well as PDF files if you prefer to cut out by hand. PLEASE NOTE: You will be purchasing the digital templates only, NOT the finished products. A link will be made available to you soon after purchase, and the files will be compressed within a zip folder, which you will need to extract before use. SVG Cut Files The download comes with 2 SVG cut files. One has solid score lines (for cutting machines that can score) and one has the more traditional dashed lines, which your machine will cut out as small perforations. PLEASE NOTE: The SVG files are compatible with Cricut Design Space and Silhouette Studio Designer Edition. Results may vary with other cutting machine software. PDF Templates The download also comes with a black and white PDF template (outline only), which will create a crown with a headband measuring approximately 3cm high. This is only meant as a guide, as the template can easily be re-sized before printing to suit your needs. Step by step assembly instructions are also included in the download as a separate PDF file. All of the instructions are written clearly in English. To make your very own Evil Queen Crown, you will need: * Computer and printer to print the PDF template and instructions * Digital cutting machine * Double-sided cardstock (220-250gsm / 80-92lb recommended). I used core'dinations Colour Core Cardstock - Black Cat, 250gsm. * Craft glue If you are not using a cutting machine you will also need: * Craft knife / scissors * Scoring tool * Ruler For more details and instructions: Visit my blog: https://essellecrafts.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/diy-evil-queen-crown.html Or watch my video tutorial: https://youtu.be/deSzzHxYJ44 Any questions, please feel free to ask, and I will do my best to answer them. © 2020 Esselle Crafts This template is for personal use only, and no part of the template is to be sold, reproduced, modified, shared or distributed.
