above: The Body Bureau by Deborah Colotti above: A Lawn of Legs by Deborah Colotti A few of my favorite textiles, installations, assemblages and altered Barbies by artist Deborah Colotti of Sebastopol. Deborah describes herself and her assemblages as follows: "I am angry. I am hopeful. I am cynical, yet full of humor. Whereas my working environment is surrounded by vast natural vistas for peaceful appreciation, my studio is loaded with objects and references gathered for their qualitative symbolism, as well as their emotive and aesthetic appeal. My mind roams around seeking connections between the absurd and the commonplace that I then pare down to essential personal and social symbols. As I arrange and rearrange the objects layered meanings are revealed and developed." Assemblages/ Sculptures: The Hunters: A Slice of Boyhood: Spinal(and detail): A Tree of Limbs: Installations: above: wireframes with doll limbs for installations Lawn of Legs and Circle of Legs. Using dismembered plastic parts from old dolls and other toys, artist Freya Jobbins assembles these exceedingly strange portraits of people and pop culture icons. Chances are when viewing these you fall firmly into one of two camps: the highly amused or the highly disturbed. Regardless, it’s hard to deny the incredible amount of labor that goes into each piece, from the exploration of form and the use of color to make each anatomical amalgamation. More
Freya Jobbins likes to call herself a plastic surgeon. No, she's not also a doctor, it actually comes from her unique sculpture project, where she repurposes old plastic dolls into human-looking busts and figures.

We are what we eat- are we also what we play with? Australian artist Freya Jobbins asks questions about modern consumerism with her strange portraits made of doll parts. Her surrealist imagination has come up with busts of pop culture icons like Batman, Bart Simpson, and self portaits made of discarded Barbie legs. Jobbins' abstract way of seeing others is highly influenced by Italian Mannerist painter Giuseppe Arcimboldo. He famously painted images of gods and Roman emperors made up of objects like vegetables, fruits, and flowers. While very amusing, there's an incredible amount of detail and thought that goes into Jobbins' pieces.
At first glance I thought that the only reason I loved Freya Jobbins art was because I was a "girl," but then I realized that she not only used doll pieces, but she also used army men. So although

About The Artwork This fantasy artwork sculpture was inspired by the film Mad Max and depicts a woman driver/imaginary character from the parallel world. It is a unique sculpture created from rescue, recoup, re-collect, restore and take back everyday objects including a small colored box, used tin cans, silver plated ustensiles, ac gilbert silver - red metal wheels and many used metal keys. The black and red car artwork with a female robot, on the road will be multi-paneled and safely packaged. This on movement artwork is intentionally made with imperfections and an antique finish. The funny dream artwork has a complete antique look. My other world art merges human and mechanical characteristics to give this outsider artwork a unique personality.
