NEWPORT, R.I. — Rough Point, the Newport estate of heiress Doris Duke, overflows with enough antiques and old master paintings to rival a world-class museum. Then there is the architectural pedigree of the 10.8-acre estate: Prominent Boston architects Peabody & Stearns designed the 105-room mansion for a member of the Vanderbilt family in 1887, and Horace Trumbauer of Philadelphia enlarged it for Doris’s father, James Buchanan Duke, in the early 1920s.
Doris succeeds in striking a balance between elegance and functionality to achieve a flatter, lighter and thinner geometric appearance while delivering a fully functional and user-friendly experience. The body of the bidet toilette is pure white, partially dotted with champagne-colored accents. The champagne-colored insert displays seat temperature and water temperature, enabling users to see the temperature at a glance before use. Doris’s neutral design language accommodates the aesthetic preferences of a variety of users.
