IOAN GRUFFUDD returns to the high seas as C S Forester's famous maritime hero, Horatio Hornblower in a new epic drama. Two new two-hour films, adapted from the book Hornblower and the Hotspur, follow our hero's adventures as he sets sail for the first time as Captain. Paul McGann returns as Hornblower's friend and stoic right-hand man, Lieutenant Bush and Robert Lindsay is back as his mentor, Vice Admiral Edward Pellew. Greg Wise stars as a French major who is spying for the British on Napoleon Bonaparte's dubious activities. Julia Sawalha stars as Maria Mason, the young woman who sets out to capture Hornblower's heart, with Barbara Flynn as her battle-axe mother. Lorcan Cranitch joins the regular cast as Hornblower's coxswain, Wolfe. The prestigious cast includes Paul Copley, Sean Gilder, Christian Coulson, Jonathan Forbes and Tony Haygarth.
