Early work of artist Carl Randall - oil paintings, 3D relief paintings, pencil & ink sketches, collages, etchings. A series of large nocturnal cityscapes, made whilst a student at the Slade School of Fine Art, depict London streets, buildings and windows at night, with the play of light and shadow being used to create a sense of drama and mystery. Randall also created three dimensional architectural relief paintings of alleyways and buildings - constructed so as to give the illusion of a great distance in a very shallow space. Also included are a selection of observational portrait drawings in pencil & ink, etchings, and more imaginative, playful and illustrative images.
