The General Dynamics F-111 Aardvark was a supersonic, medium-range interdictor and tactical attack aircraft. The RAAF was the only non-US operator.
The F-111 was the first aircraft with an after-burning turbofan engine (the TF-30). Besides being more efficient in non after-burning flight, the additional oxygen actually improved the effectiveness of the afterburner.
