I always enjoyed stories especially when I was a child. I loved those magical fairytales about princesses, magic and witches and I still do today. However when I grew up a realized that sometimes life can be much more mysterious, wonderful and sometimes sad. I started my art journal page with a really fun technique of Gelatos water coloring. I colored the background with the colors of the rainbow and added some accents with darker shades of Gelatos. Then I added a stenciled image of a large tree branch with birds and add green leafs with Smooch, Gelatos and a fun distress ink technique using my fingers. I also added butterflies created with a stencil and a blend of different colors distress inks and a little stamping. Finally I added images cut from a Graphic 45 patterned paper and created a blurred look with some gesso that I rubbed with my fingers. That gave the art journal page a dreamy look …

Today I want to share with you how to create a Butterfly Mixed Media Canvas. I get asked a lot about how I create these canvases and how I get that crisp rusty look. Well, today I want to share with you some of the products I use to achieve this look and how exactly to create it. Butterfly Mixed Media CanvasOne of the most important steps in creating a canvas like this is to layer the embellishments and create a 3D look. So I started with a layer of chipboard empty squares and added the butterfly on top. The butterfly is the focal point of the canvas so I made sure to create a raised surface from little chipboard squares so The butterfly would be raised above all the other embellishments. The next step was to add all the embellishments around the canvas. When I create a canvas like this I use all kinds of embellishments, some of them with more …

Sometimes I think I should have been born in another country. Not because I don’t love my country but because I don’t like the weather! Most of the year it’s hot and the summers are the worst. I love the cold, the rain and the snow…So I thought maybe if I created a stormy art journal page the rain will be here sooner than later… This art journal page was really fun to create and very easy. The background is all Gelatos with color spray that have a double role – wet the Gelatos and add color. I just layered color on color until I was happy with the way it looked. Then I added texture with stencils, dimensional paint and gesso. I did it in a cool technique called double stenciling. it gives a great effect of two tone shapes. Finally it was time to create the dripage effect. I wanted drop of water running down the page like …

Mor, my autistic son, had his 16th birthday a few days ago. I can’t believe he’s 16 already…His birthday made me think about the past 16 years from the day he was born and the journey we made from then to now. The journey with Autism. This is not an easy journey. Some people I meet try to hide their pity. They think this is a disease and they feel sorry for me and him. But the most important thing I’ve learned in the past 16 years is that not only do I not need to be felt sorry for. I’m proud, happy and honored to a mother of such an AMAZING boy! He has such a unique way of seeing the world and understanding it. And even when he doesn’t understand he doesn’t give up he finds his inner strength to cope with everything that the world throws at him. He is gentle, considerate and has a good heart. …

How to easily make an interactive art journal page with a flap you can move from side to side and discover hidden text
I had the best time creating with some friends. I always have the best inspiration when I'm with them. This time I created an Art Journal Page: Different is Good with some of Dyan Reaveley quirky stamps. I just love these stamps, they are so funky and crazy and I love the fact you can take them apart and create new ladies. There is no video but I did take some photos while creating the page so you can get an idea of how I created it. Art Journal Page: Different is GoodStep 1: I stamped a heavy watercolor paper with black permanent ink. Using a permanent ink is important so the lines won't bleed when coloring the stamps. Step 2: I colored the stamps with water colors. This step is optional. You can color the stamps with any medium you like or just leave them as they are. Step 3: Cut the ladies into parts: heads, legs and bodies. This way you'll …
