About This exquisite snuff box has been crafted from solid gold and decorated with colorful enamels. It is of oval shape, with a hinged cover that opens onto a gold interior. Decorating the top of the lid are beautiful depictions of musical instruments, which are positioned against a backdrop of foliage and a royal blue coloured ground. This central motif is framed by a winding border, composed mainly of turquoise, but with multiple shades of blue enamelled on top, forming floral decorative motifs which are outlined in gold. The sides of the box are ornamented with similar enamel motifs showing musical instruments and flowers, set against a royal blue ground and within a wavy gold frame. Blue enamelled flowers decorate the spaces between each panel. The underside of the box is gold. This box could be used to store precious items, or simply enjoyed as a beautiful piece of decorative design, and one which once has an interesting history, being once used to store snuff.
