Each month I try and create a mood board from elements that are blooming/growing in my garden. Here are the links to each one. 2012 February March April May June July August September November 2013 Jan/Feb Feb/March March/April April/May May/June June/July July/August August/September September/October
There's not much happening in our garden at the moment. A few last tomatoes, some straggly lemons, giant grapefruit we keep forgetting about. We do have some carrots coming if the kids don't get them first. Luckily there are little pockets of flowers to cheer me through these greyer days. I'm joining Karin to share a monthly mood board. How does your garden grow at the moment? ♥

This rose bush only flowers for a few weeks a year - a huge showy display of roses right in the middle of our garden. I have no idea what its called and it's in really inconvenient position but each year I'm captivated by just how lovely it is. Most of the other roses are through their first flush - I dead-headed for a couple of hours on the weekend and the bushes look so empty now. Many of the other flowers have been knocked around by the seemingly endless November rains - especially my poor peonies. So these are my Nov/Dec offerings - one beautiful bunch for my bedside table. Every month I create a mood board (of sorts!) from my garden. I link up here - lots of beautiful photos from different gardens/climates around the world. How does your garden grow? ♥
"Every day we are engaged in a miracle which we don't even recognize: A blue sky, white clouds, green leaves, the curious eyes of a child, our own two eyes. All is a miracle." ~ Thich Nhat Hanh Sometimes we find it difficult to recognize the beautiful, wonderful, and miraculous things happening around us every day. We get easily distracted by work, social obligations, technology, and life's routine, so much so that we forget about life's true pleasures. A beautiful blue sky, a soft breeze carrying the scent of spring flowers, the gentle warmth of the sun, a smile from a stranger....these are everyday miracles that touch us on a deeper level than we might recognize. Take the time and make a promise to yourself to stop and appreciate life's every day miracles. Take a deep breath, exhale, and recognize that you yourself are a miracle. xo McMullen

It's May. Nominally autumn but feeling very wintery. The chill air bites in the mornings and evenings, the scarves are out, umbrellas are by the door. The garden has been calling for rain and today it's here. The fire will be lit soon. Moment to moment, day to day the garden changes in autumn as the leaves change and fall, the light softens. The last of the roses and cosmos are still blooming, I spy an occasional windflower and dahlia. Our vegies are finished, the salad leaves gone to seed. For the first time I've raided the neighbour's garden as well - those red hips were just too good to resist and ours are gone to an over vigorous pruner. Each month I link with lovely people to share mood boards of what's happening in our gardens. How does your garden grow? ♥
