Mark Reep is an artist and writer whose work has appeared or is forthcoming in American Art Collector, Bluecanvas, Endicott Journal, Metazen, Drawing Magazine, Word Riot, and many other publications. He explains his work by saying, “I don’t plan much; I try everything in-drawing. What works best stays, but traces of abandoned directions and attempts (often, many) remain layered in there too, and contribute to the drawings’ depth.” A self-educated artist, Mark has exhibited regularly for seventeen years.

Hands is a reflection of the technicality of drawing human anatomy, specifically the hands. Hands are themselves a complexity, which mirrors croucheting in their own anatomical construction and function. This idea translates into everything we use our hands to fabricate. About The Artwork An original Pencil Drawing depicting wet pebbles - the pebbles in question are from the beach closest to my gallery in St. Ives - whilst we have a large number of sandy beaches, the closest is a pebble beach that is popular with a local artist who stacks the stones and pebbles to form incredible balancing sculpture - this gave me the inspiration to draw some of these highly polished pebbles :) The drawing measures 30cm x 40cm - and took at 40 hours to complete. Following a 20 year Hiatus Paul picked up his pencils again and started drawing back in 2012. Turning professional in 2016 Paul has won accolades across the globe, initially exhibiting and selling work in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand he now resides in the centre for contemporary British Art and the Tate Modern Gallery, St. Ives, cornwall. From his open studio and commercial gallery in the town he spends hours, weeks and months drawing incredibly detailed images inspired by the plethora of artists and art in the local area. His work is on permanent display in the Stowe Gallery of St. Ives and with individual and corporate collections across the world. The drawing is being sold unframed to reduce shipping costs - however I can offer a bespoke framing service as required - just send me a message to discuss. *Images showing the drawing in a frame and in various room settings are for illustration purposes only. How I absolutely adore simplicity. Black, grey, and white. The industrial against nature. His paintings are foggy, almost ethereal... The compositions are also brilliantly composed. View more of his works here.
