The Forum is situated at the heart of Exeter's Streatham Campus and was opened in 2012. It provides a range of facilities and amenities. As well as linking to existing buildings (the Great Hall, Devonshire House and the Library) the Forum 'integrates functional services with recreational spaces to create a vibrant, central hub'. The Forum includes a Student Services Centre, a 400-seat Auditorium that recognises the generosity of the Exeter alumni community in helping to fund and develop the project, a library, learning spaces, as well as retail, banking and catering outlets. Facility available to staff and students to carry out research and work individually and in groups in an informal and flexible environment. Individual work spaces and larger group meeting spaces are available on all floors. IT and Library staff are able to work alongside users to support them and help find solutions to any issues. This set is part of a larger collection on Flickr containing images taken as part of work undertaken by Jisc infoNet on Technology Enhanced Learning Environments. If you would like to know more please follow this link Forum. Other case studies on similar spaces are available as part of Jisc infoNet’s collection of Organisational experience. The artist Alexander Beleschenko was commissioned to produce a piece for the Forum. He explains the process in an article in Architecture Today (www.architecturetoday.co.uk/?p=23803) in July 2012 that he 'sought to create a piece, generous in scale, legible from inside and outside at both day and night, that caught the spirit of the communal space... Because the facades were made of double-layered glass panels, imagery could create differing effects through the interplay of surfaces'. He developed a system of arranging the colours as concertina stripes conveying hidden content. Each of the colours was ascribed a letter of the alphabet which was then used to spell words and the facade shown here at the South Entrance comprises words contributed by staff and students.
