Happy Wednesday, I wish all of you a smooth 2nd half of the week. Here is picutre of the Space Needle taken on a recent trip to Seattle, Vancouver and Whistler B.C. This shot is actually 1 vertical frame of a Seattle skyline panorama I've been working on. For those of you who are wondering, this shot was taken from Kerry Park. In my opinion it's one of the best locations to shoot the Seattle skyline. Camera Data for this shot: Camera: Nikon D3 Lens: Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 vrii F Stop: f/5.6 Exposure: 1.3 seconds ISO: 200

While rolling his first cigarette of the day he talked about his poor choices, the drinking and fear of getting arrested. I put my hand on his shoulder and said "look at that sunrise, isn't it beautiful?" he didn't look up. "Cliff, c'mon you're gonna miss it and you'll never see this again, never." Cliff stopped, looked up and smiled, "yeah, that is beautiful, really beautiful, I stopped noticing them a long time ago." I walked 10 steps and took this picture.
Each location has a picturesque setting and attributes attuned to passion.

If you would like to go for a day trip that you will never forget, try this one. From Woodland, Washington (I-5 exit 21), drive east on 503. You will pass by the three dams on the North Fork Lewis river. First is Merwin. There is a nice park here if you want to take a little rest stop and view Lake Merwin. Driving on up the highway you will have access to beautiful view points suitable for taking pictures or just looking out at the amazing scenery. The next reservoir is Yale. Keep on driving and you will come to Swift Dam and reservoir. On the Eastern end of Swift you arrive at Eagle Cliff Park and cross over the river. From here on up the river is unaffected by any dams and is free flowing all the way to Mt. Adams. It is 60 miles from Woodland to the Lower Lewis River Falls. In some places, from Eagle Cliff Park to the Lower Lewis River Falls, (about 14 miles) the road is a little rough where land slides have been repaired. Nothing to worry about. For most of the way it is a nice black top road. You will see a sign for the Lower Lewis River Falls. Drive in and park your car. It is just a short walk to the viewing area for the falls. You can then take the short path right down to the falls. You won't be disappointed. Be sure and remember your camera. The campground is located in a pleasantly wooded setting on the Lewis River next to Lower Falls. The campsites are tucked in among the trees creating a sense of seclusion. The campground road is paved and shaded by large evergreen trees. A trailhead for the Lewis River Trail #31 is located in the campground. Lewis River Trail is a multi-use trail (hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding) that follows the bank of the river through old growth and past several striking waterfalls. The river is open to catch and release fishing and kayaking. Lower Falls Day Use Area is within the campground. Lower Falls Campground offers 43 standard sites that accommodate both tents and RVs (60 feet), but no hookups are available. Picnic tables and campfire rings with grills are provided, as are composting toilets and drinking water. There are falls viewing opportunities at Lower Lewis River Falls, Curly Creek Falls, Big Creek Falls, and Middle Falls, all within 15 minutes of the campground. Lewis River Horse Camp is 5 miles away.
I took a short trip up to the Canadian Rockies and visited these little hot springs a few mornings. It's tough to find open water up there this time of year. Comments and critiques on this are very welcome. Thanks for looking! Chip Due to more strict enforcement of their rules, Flickr has asked me and many others to take down info such as links to personal websites and workshop information. However, it is still allowed to have such information in one's Flickr Profile.
