What Is It Really Like To Earn And Manage Your Own Money? Time to keep it real! What will happen once students leave the safe confines of school and venture into real life? Rather than dancing in musicals and playing basketball nine hours a day, they will have to go out and get a real job (yuck!) and pay bills (ugh). Oh, the humanity! While it is impossible to give you a completely accurate real-world experience that includes all of the little intricacies of real life, this project intends to push financial literacy skills and develop decision-making skills that will be with stick with students - forever and ever and ever and ever. - In Bookkeeping 101, students analyze the spending of different individuals and determine whether or not they have the funds to purchase an item they would like. - In Budget Busters 101, students analyze the budgets and actual spending of different individuals. Are they spending within their budget? - In Monthly Payment 101, students will calculate monthly payments of different loan options and choose between them. - In Real Life students will take on the multifaceted Game of Real Life project that requires that they make choices, set budgets, encounter life changes, and much more! Finally, students will complete both a personal and financial reflection that encourages them to record their reactions to their financial twists and turns. This project is an officially licensed adaptation of content from Clark Creative Education (formerly 21st Century Math Projects). NextLesson makes changes with permission.
