Room 8 Studio participated in the upgrade of the existing Runescape game. We enjoyed creating various 3D Stylized Environment elements (weapon sets, environment props, event props, and siege cannons). The main goal was to maintain the delicate balance between realistic details and fantasy feel to each asset. We are proud to partner with Jagex and are focused on our long-term cooperation.

It is a great privilege for our team to have played a part in this incredible project. The Hard Surface team thoroughly enjoyed the process of crafting weapon sets for The Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom (DLC), a project that has received high praise on "Metacritic." Our team's responsibilities encompassed the entire asset weapon creation process, guided by the provided concept art. Given the fantasy nature of the game, the majority of the assets required a blend of stylized graphics and realism. This made the project highly sculpt-oriented, providing our artists with a wonderful opportunity to refine their sculpting skills in ZBrush. The melding of fantasy elements with meticulous attention to detail has truly made this project a rewarding and enjoyable experience for our team.
This broken rundown shield stowed in the back of a weapon shop, deemed unfit for sale as it is broken, is the hellfire shield. The marks are not from a weapon but from the fire contained in the gem burning away at the shield's cage. It needs an outlet only a human can let escape by using the shield. Will someone notice this shield before it burns itself out of existence?
Some weapon designs i made
The bullets of this gun are the remains of people's souls. Old victims are drained on sight and turned into bullets to collect even more souls. Some claim it a weapon of the demons, but it is actually a weapon of the Gods in this world. Once hit, the bullet does not instantly kill and first unloads the soul sending the victims brain into battle as two souls fight for dominance ripping apart the neurons.
A Katana used during many battles, always bringing its wielder home. However, the user is not immortal and falls during battle, casting the Katana away hoping his enemies do not take it. The Katana lands into a lake, and drifts along until it is wedged against a stone. It is now lonely waiting for its master to return. Villagers close by claim to hear its cries at night.
Some fun items I got to do.
A collection of elemental weapons. They look powerful, do they not? Except in this world, regular swords of metal are actually stronger then the elementals. The reason? The steal negates the power and shatters all. Luckily for this world, weapons of metal are extremely rare.
A set of weapons I designed for a personal IP project made to help me focus my personal concept work. Based on various cultural and architectural influences.
Fantasy Weapon Shop - Pick your weapon! The Sword displayed is passed down by a great slayer becoming the shop keeper's heirloom. Right side connects to a black smith shop managed by the shop keeper's son while the left side has a passage guiding down to a training area for weapon testing. Special thanks to AD Dominic Chan for looking over and pushing me through the project!
