Welcome back to YourArtPath.com bi-weekly Artist Interview series that I conduct every second Sunday! Today we have a talented Illustrator and Storyteller based in London - Anja Sušanj. You can check out more of her works on Anja's website: anjasusanj.com Let's begin! Welcome Anja, tell our readers a little bit about yourself :) Anja: Hi - thank you so much for having me! :) I’m an illustrator originally from Croatia and I’m currently based in London – the city of chaos, red double-deckers, parks and surprisingly little rain (seriously!) When it comes to my work, my main focus is on editorial,
Here's a piece that was backlogged for a little while! It's a gift for my dear friends Bill and Ikumi, who welcomed a healthy baby boy into the world 2 months ago! It was just tonight that they saw the special illustration book that this was part of, along with works from lots of other artists and based on their reaction, I think it was worth the wait! Welcome, Taiga! I'm going to be in short supply for a bit, as I am moving this month and tending to a pile of surprise freelance, but the rewards are many and I will finally have a bigger studio space. Time to stock up on caffeine and tissues for the stress-induced crying fits. Also happy to report that I did not have to resort to violence to secure a place, after 4 months on the rental battlefield. I'm telling you, it's a war zone out there. NEVER MOVE TO THE BAY AREA EVER!! IT'S GO TIME!

It amazes me that I could of missed someone like J.C. Leyendecker (1874-1951) when I was in art school. (I'm sure some of my teachers must of mentioned him but I was probably daydreaming of other things) His work is so incredible! But now that I have found him and

Although filled with amazing artists DeviantArt isn’t one of my favorite websites to look for inspiration. Sure, there’s great talent to be found on the network, yet it’s hidden between piles of mediocre work. Fortunately one of those DeviantArt pearls found its way to me a while ago, the stunning illustrations of comics & illustration […]

Here's a quick blog post about some of my favorite figurative expressionists in the contemporary art world. These artists explore the boundaries between realism and abstraction. Their works reference the masters of action painting (de Kooning, Pollock), mixed media (Rauschenberg, Bearden), pop (Warhol), color field (Frankenthaler), and painterly portraiture (Freud, Bacon), while synthesizing their own visual language. Electronic media also exerts a huge influence among many of these painters, some of whom employ glitched, pixelated imagery as a modern take on impressionism. I admire these artists' virtuosity and refusal to settle on a formulaic, marketable style. Rather, these artists continue to experiment with technique, materials, and content.
