My dad was from Lancashire and this is packed full of lovely Lancashire sterotypes and is hilarious if read in a Lancashire accent. The original poems/stories used to be read on the radio "wireless" by Stanley Holloway a comedian who may be remembered as playing Eliza Dolittle's father in the movie "My Fair Lady" a funny guy. The illustrations by John Hassal are superb.
