A timely and inspiring nonfiction guide for middle grade readers about the history of our fight against climate change, and how young people today are rising to action. Inspired by Nathaniel Rich’s Losing Earth: A Recent History, the acclaimed book that grew out of an August 2018 issue of the New York Times Magazine solely dedicated to it, Saving Earth tells the human story of the climate change conversation from the recent past into the present day. It wrestles with the long shadow of our failures, what might be ahead for today’s generation, and crucial questions of how we understand the world we live in—and how we can work together to change the outlook for the better. Written by acclaimed author Olugbemisola Rhuday-Perkovich and enlivened with illustrations from Tim Foley, and filled with the voices of climate activists from the past and present, this book is both a call to action and a riveting dramatic history. A Junior Library Guild Selection
I was writing this book to everyone to let them know more about me and it's also about the people around. Because the people way of live are different. Everyone way of live is different. But we must stand up and fight for our life to prove it to the world that we're strong to stand by ourselves. Maybe some of the people got a support from the others and some of them not. However, those things maybe will not remain forever. There will be a time that we will be alone and there will be a time that we will be together and that is what did I want to tell people. Moreover, this world is filled with conflicts that we must learn to know people before we accept and follow them. This will bring us to the right side or the Light Side. | Author: Aigami Hikari | Publisher: Partridge Publishing Singapore | Publication Date: May 04, 2023 | Number of Pages: 392 pages | Language: English | Binding: Hardcover | ISBN-10: 1543774032 | ISBN-13: 9781543774030
Nuclear waste, radioactive gas, and smoking aren't the only things toxic. When toxic relationships take a toll on someone, they may have a nonetheless detrimental effect. We often don't notice or perhaps refuse to see harmful behavior towards us, even if our soul is screaming for help. When our hearts are aching and asking us to stop licking the poison so imperceptibly disguised as honey. To quote the lyrics from Barbra Streisand's and Donna Summer's hit, "Enough is enough."🎵
This year, the theme for Reconciliation Week (held every year 27th May – 3rd June) is ‘Now More Than Ever’ and while it is still a few weeks away so might not be on your radar yet, I want to talk about the theme and what it means for teachers – because it’s an important one.
During World War I, hundreds of young women went to work in clock factories, painting watch dials with luminous radium paint. But after the girls — who literally glowed in the dark after their shifts — began to experience gruesome side effects, they began a race-against-time fight for justice that would forever change US labor laws.

Welcome to March, aka Women's History Month, a paltry 31 days in which we honor the nearly endless contributions of amazing women on this planet, all of whom deserve recognition 365 days a year. This month, we hail all women who stand — and stood — for progress, even by sitting (on an Alabama bus, that is). We honor women who refuse to back down despite threats and danger. We remember women who created or continue to create safe spaces for others through powerful words and courageous actions. In fact, we're determined to celebrate women's history and the women around...

This is an Introduction, History, and Photocopy of the Slave Bible. - There was an uneasy tension as the slave owners sought to maintain control and keep the slaves working calmly and the abolitionists began to question the moral cost of slavery. The abolitionist movement was growing and for the first time, the souls of the slaves were being considered. As they prepared to compile a special Bible for slaves in the West Indies, the missionaries agreed to uplift the Africans without teaching them anything that could incite rebellion. Throughout history, the Bible has encouraged us to fight against our enslavement to sin, Hell, death, and the grave. But it has also encouraged us to fight against our fellow man who might choose to take our freedom and use us for his own purpose. Just as Egypt enslaved the Jews and used them for labor to build their empire, so were the slaves of Africa used to build the empire of the British West Indies and the United States. Just as Moses stood against the Egyptians and led the children of Israel out of slavery and bondage, so are we encouraged to stand up against the cruel bonds of slavery and fight for our freedom and the freedom of fellow man. The clarion call for human freedom is found in many forms and in various stories throughout the Bible, but all of these ideals were stripped from and carved out of the Slave Bible. The Slave Bible, also called The Negro Bible, is one of the most powerful examples ever witnessed of manipulation using a controlled narrative. The Christian faith, a religion one-third of the world relied on to bring comfort, spiritual rest, peace, and salvation was the narrative being controlled, making the Slave Bible the ultimate propaganda tool and the greatest lie ever told.
