However skilled the artist, a painting could only ever be, as his colleague Maurice Denis put it, "a flat surface covered with colors assembled in a certain order,"—but it needn't pretend to be anything else. Rather, Vuillard downplayed naturalistic detail in order to emphasize the aesthetic properties of line, color and form; bringing these to the fore in a manner that not only rendered his work beautiful in a strictly abstract sense, but also expressed his feelings toward the subject. Whereas the academic realists of the era were amply equipped to reproduce what they saw, Vuillard and the Nabis were better enabling artists to communicate how they saw. "Garden at Vaucresson" is illustrative of a prominent theme in Vuillard's work: the tension between indoor and outdoor spaces, the natural and artificial. Whereas his interior scenes emphasized architectural structure and geometry to a degree sometimes served to stifle and constrain his subjects, his natural environments were rendered in winding lines and energetic patterns evocative of growth and recreation. ART-CENTRIC DESIGN ----------------------------- Vintage art is not standardized. The original works are usually too long, or too short, to neatly fill a store-bought frame. Most shops arbitrarily crop the artwork to match, leading to claustrophobic prints with missing or partial elements. These modifications — sometimes trivial, sometimes ludicrous — are not always shown in the product photos. We believe that the purpose of art is not to fill a frame; it is the purpose of a frame to showcase the art. Our prints have inset borders that make up any differences in proportion between the artwork and a standard frame, so that you can experience the art as the artist intended. They look sharp in beveled mats, may be float mounted, or inserted directly into standard frames; the borders providing a mat-like accent around the image. There are many styles from which to choose. Framing is a fun, creative process that enhances the artwork and livens your space for years to come. Should you like any advice, feel free to reach out. CUSTOMIZATION AND IMAGE REQUESTS ----------------------------- We are happy to customize our prints to fit your frame. Borderless prints may require the artwork to be cropped to fit a new aspect ratio. In such cases, we will provide a mockup to ensure that the final product meets with your approval. If you’re looking for an artwork that is not in our catalog, feel free to ask if we can provide it. We will print any public domain or openly licensed image that is available in high resolution. MUSEUM QUALITY ----------------------------- Giclée process prints are the gold standard in fine art reproduction. We use a matte finish, cotton fiber paper to maximize detail while eliminating glare. Our prints display a wide color gamut, deep blacks and beautiful tonal transitions. Produced using only archival materials, they will not fade or yellow, but maintain their original quality for as long as you own them. HANDMADE DECLARATION ----------------------------- To assure artistic quality, all of our production and design is strictly in-house. Every print has been proofed, calibrated and inspected for defects. We do not drop ship, resell or make use of third-party production partners. SHIPPING AND PACKAGING ----------------------------- All orders ship within one business day via USPS First Class, Priority Mail or Priority Mail Express. Sizes 9” x 12” and 12” x 16” ship in a flat configuration, unless combined with larger prints, which require tubes. We will replace any lost or damaged items at no expense to you. HAPPINESS GUARANTEE ----------------------------- We will promptly address any issues that may arise with your order. If you are unhappy with your print for any reason, you are welcome to return it for a full refund.

Félix Edouard Vallotton (1865 – 1925) was a Swiss painter and printmaker associated with Les Nabis. He was an important figure in the development of the modern woodcut.Les Nabis (Nabi is the Hebrew word for prophet) originated as a rebellious group of young student artists under the influence of Paul Gauguin who banded together at the Académie Julian in the late 19th century. Pierre Bonnard, Édouard Vuillard and Maurice Denis became the best known artists of the group.Vallotton painted, wrote art criticism and made a number of prints. The many woodcuts he produced during the 1890s were recognized as innovative, and established Vallotton as a leader in the revival of true woodcut as an artistic medium. In the western world, the relief print, in the form of commercial wood engraving, had long been utilized mainly as a means to accurately reproduce drawn or painted images and, latterly, photographs. Vallotton's woodcut style was novel in its starkly reductive opposition of large masses of undifferentiated black and areas of unmodulated white. Vallotton emphasized outline and flat patterns, and generally eliminated the gradations and modeling traditionally produced by hatching. He was influenced by post-Impressionism, Symbolism, and especially by the Japanese woodcut: a large exhibition of ukiyo-e prints had been presented at the École des Beaux-Arts in 1890, and Vallotton, like many artists of his era an enthusiast of Japonism, collected these prints. His woodcut subjects included domestic scenes, bathing women, portrait heads, and several images of street crowds and demonstrations—notably, scenes of police attacking anarchists. He usually depicted types rather than individuals, eschewed the expression of strong emotion, and "fuse[d] a graphic wit with an acerbic if not ironic humor”. Vallotton's graphic art reached its highest development in Intimités (Intimacies), a series of ten interiors published in 1898 by the Revue Blanche, which deal with tension between men and women. Vallotton's woodcuts were widely disseminated in periodicals and books in Europe as well as in the United States, and have been suggested as a significant influence on the graphic arts. Vuillard being a good friend, and he was a member of the Nabis. Some of his most famous works were made early in his career during his involvement with Les Nabis (named after the Hebrew and Arabic term for “prophets”), an avant-garde group deeply influenced by the work of Paul Gauguin. The file is then printed with a high-resolution photo generation printer on a fine art paper. Most artists and working photographers today use the giclee process to produce reproductions of their original artwork and photographs. As with any original art or fine art reproduction, it is recommended that prints are framed and displayed under glass to prevent color fade or shift over the years.

Vuillard was a member of Les Nabis, a group of Post-Impressionist artists who set the pace for fine art in France in the 1890s. In 1890, they began to successfully participate in public exhibitions. By 1896, the unity of the group had already begun to break. The Hommage à Cézanne, painted by Maurice Denis in 1900, recollects memories of a time already gone. Meanwhile, most members of the group - Maurice Denis, Pierre Bonnard, Edouard Vuillard - could stand, artistically, on their own.

Less than five years ago, a new army of exorcists was created by the Roman Catholic Church. They were trained to deal with the “unprecedented rise” in requests for help in battling evil spirits. The Church has claimed that an increase in demonic possessions is related to the ease of finding information on the “dark arts” online.
