This solid pine mantel is made to order and will ship within one week of purchase. SELECT "learn more" SO YOU CAN PROPERLY ORDER THE PERFECT PIECE. Please message the shop with any questions before you order. SIZE Face and Depth: This mantel will have a 8" face and be 8" deep. For other face and depth sizes, please search our shop. Length: This mantel will be 72" long (six feet). If your mantel needs to be shorter, include what length you need in the "NOTE TO SELLER" at checkout. If your mantel needs to be longer, find a listing in our shop for a longer piece. Essentially, length cannot be added without an additional charge, but length can be taken off. We can custom make any size, so if you do not see one that works for you, please message the shop for a quote. Weight: The approximate weight for a mantel with these dimensions is 80 pounds. CORBELS This listing does NOT include corbels. Corbels can be purchased separately. Some listings include corbels with the mantel. COLOR The mantel stain is offered in 5 color choices. Each color option is included in the listing photos. Colors may vary slightly depending on the beam itself, since no two beams have exactly the same qualities. We use a tinted satin finish polyurethane which is the least sheen that is available in a poly. If you would like to see the colors in person and on a pine sample, we have sample sets available for purchase. Unfinished beams are available in our shop as well. MOUNTING Read below for different options for mounting your mantel. See listing photos for examples. Straps: If you are mounting a mantel where the stone hasn’t been laid yet, steel straps are recommended. The straps will not be visible once the stonework is complete. Straps can be selected when adding the mantel to your cart. These straps are pre-drilled with holes every 2 inches and should be screwed to the back of the beam, with one hole extending below the beam and 2 to 3 holes extending above the beam. We suggest that you use one strap per 25 pounds (i.e.: 4 straps for a 100 pound beam). Locate the wood framing on the wall and attach straps using 3 or 3 1/2 inch screws. To keep from burying your mantel in the stone, you can build out the back of your mantel by securing a board to the back. Pick a board size that works best for the depth of your stone. Then attach the straps to the board and mount as described above. This allows more of the beam to protrude above your fireplace. The stonework then goes around the mounted mantel. Notched Back: This is the optimal option for mounting mantels on brick or drywall. Notching is a $45 charge and can be selected when adding the mantel to your cart. The back of your beam will be notched according to the face height: 6” faces will have 3 1/2” tall by 1 1/2” deep notch; 8” faces will have 5” tall by 1 1/2” deep notch. To mount a mantel with a notched back, locate where you want your mantel to rest on your wall and mount your board. Once you receive your mantel, we recommend measuring the notch and fitting your board before mounting the board to the wall. The entire weight of the beam will be on the board, so be sure that it is well secured. For brick or any masonry use mason screws and construction glue to mount the board on the wall. Place your mantel on the board and screw from the top of your mantel down into the board. We suggest using 3 to 4 screws from the top and 2 screws from the bottom up. IMPORTANT NOTE These mantels are made of new pine beams that have been air dried for a minimum of 4 months. Some additional drying will occur as the mantel is acclimated to your home temperature and completes the drying process. At this time, there may be some checking, which is natural as the mantel dries. This in no way affects the stability or the integrity of the mantel. If checking occurs, we offer a touch up stain for your convenience to cover any “fresh” wood that may show. Please contact us and we can ship this out to you at no cost.

There have been some changes recently in the library. This room has always been a hard one for me to decorate, but I believe its now on its way to being how I want it. I love french style furniture. I purchased my gold couch set a few years ago on Craiglist. The chair is very regal looking and is my favorite chair to lounge in. The ottoman was a gift from my sister and I recently recovered it in leopard fabric. I love it! I decided to hang one of my vintage mirrors behind my antique French console table. Eventually the walls here will be redone with french style moldings. For now the mirror looks nice in my opinion. I did purchase a new leopard rug too. I love leopard! Its actually two rugs, I plan to connect them so that they appear to be one large rug. They are 5x7 and I believe I paid $67 each, which is a great price. I brought in a big bouquet of flowers from my yard as well. Initially I thought that they were honeysuckle branches, but my sister said that they are actually white lilacs. Lol no wonder, they smelled like lilacs. I have never heard of white lilacs! Just a peek into the library from the foyer. I have a new addition hanging over the couch. I absolutely love antique French trumeau mirrors. I found this photo of one on Pinterest that I just fell in love with, and used it as my inspiration to create my own. I found the frame for under $1 at a thrift store. The image of the angels is a print that I found for a few dollars at a goodwill store. I used modge podge to adhere it to my board. The floral swags I found on Etsy. I painted them gold and then used a layer of dark wax over the top. The mirror underneath was also a goodwill find for under $10. I would like to add some more appliqués underneath the cherub print and maybe also down the sides. I just haven't found what I'm looking for yet. I decided to hang it over my gold sofa and it love the look. Someday I want to have a French style mantel underneath the mirror. If you would ask my what my favorite color is, I would say pink without hesitation, but for some reason I always gravitate towards green. There is a lot of green in my home. I chose to paint my mirror with the historical color "Wythe Blue" by Benjamin Moore. It is the same color that I painted the playroom walls with. I used a dark wax over the paint to deepen the color. Another favorite Craiglist find in the library is this french style china cabinet. The lady I purchased it from, collected teacups and displayed them here. Currently I use it to display pretty knick knacks. I love the handprinted details. Look at the flowers! I also love the damask fabric on the bottom shelf. The antique French doors lead into the living room. It has been extremely rainy and cloudy here for weeks! My living room is so dark even in the daytime, its even worse when it rains. I love the big bouquet of white lilacs on the mantel. The candlelight is so pretty. Just some pretty photos for you. I added the toile fabric on either side of the French doors. It is called "Covington Bosporus". I hope you enjoyed the library. I am not finished, but its a good start. I like photography so thats why I always have so many photos. I hope you don't mind! Thank you for visiting! -Larissa

Even on its own, a fireplace serves as a focal point of a home. But a statement-worthy one almost always features a cluster of thoughtfully placed items that tell a story — for example, maybe a mix of ornate candleholders with colorful tapers, a ceramic vase, stacked art or a mirror, and various trinkets to tie it all together. If you’re looking to take your fireplace a stylish step further, though, consider adding some live greens to that recipe.
