At Mojo Monday this week they decided to mix things up and focus on non-traditional sized cards, so the challenge is either a Round or Square option based on the following sketch. On my card I have use one of my favourite colour combinations of brown and pink together with a little white. I made the flowers that I have used on my card with punches, spritzing with water and scrunching them up to form the flower. The finished effect gives a little jazz to my card along with one of my favourite emblishments, the butterfly. ...are everywhere and being the lazy crafter that I am I wanted a chevron punch....could I find one? No! but I do have a few square punches .... so here's how to make quick chevrons.. Cut a strip of paper the same width (or less) than the width of your square punch. Draw a line along the length of the strip in the middle, then mark equal distances.. this determines the width of your chevrons... I used the marks on the craft mat as a guide. Do this on the wrong side. Put the strip in the punch diagonally, lining up the centre horizontal line with the corner and the vertical lines with the sides.. punch..discard the punched piece.. Line up the lines on the strip as before and punch...flick the pointed ends of the paper out of the way of the punch or you will cut off the points..... there's your first chevron! This will work with any size of square punch and any width of paper ( as long as it's not wider than your punch)
This card was featured on Pinterest, and I immediately thought it would make a wonderful Mother's Day card for my class. However, 3 of my students do not have their mother anymore, so I changed the sentiment for something more neutral. It is a partial case from Biggan at splitcoaststampers. However, I did change a few things around. I started by punching five 1 3/8" circles, and sponging them with Blushing Bride with the edges Pear Pizzaz. These I folded into dahlia flowers using this tutorial. The stem was die cut using Pear Pizzaz cardstock and the Bouquet die. The stem and flowers were arranged on a Very Vanilla background embossed with the script embossing folder. This background was matted with Pink Pirouette cardstock and then a 1/4" Pink Pirouette ribbon and bow were adhered to the bottom. This was adhered to a Sahara Sand layer, which in turn was adhered to a Blushing Bride base card. The sentiment is "For Being You" (SAB) and was punched using the oval die. The oval was reinserted back into the punch to reduce its size. It was also sponged with Blushing Bride and Pear Pizzaz. Supplies Used: Built for Free Using: My Stampin Blog I also used the script embossing folder (retired) and the Bouquet die.

Komplet ozdobiłam papierem Marianne D Victorian vintage, dodałam do nich stempel CS0864, ręcznie robione kwiaty, gałązki i listki. Brzegi kartki wykończyłam borderem CR1250. Obie strony zakładki zdobi ten sam papier, kwiaty na jednej ze stron wycięłam, pokryłam crackle accents i dodałam garść mikrokulek. Duże kremowe kwiaty wykonałam z wycinanek Marianne D LR0128, LR0111. Pokażę Wam w jaki sposób robię tego typu kwiaty. 1. Za pomocą wykrojnika Marianne D CR1202 wycinamy z papieru czerpanego 150g (200g) dwa kwiatki. Pręciki wycinamy wykrojnikiem Marianne D LR0121, LR0122 lub LR0111. Płatki kwiatków nacinamy. 2. Jeśli chcemy zabarwić kwiatki, tuszujemy każdy płatek. Kwiatki spryskujemy wodą. Zwilżone płatki kolejno składamy w harmonijkę i skręcamy palcami w rulonik. 3. Na środku każdego z kwiatków i pręcików robimy otwór. Przez otwór przekładamy pręciki, możemy użyć drucika. Gotowy kwiatek formujemy ściskając od spodu. Przyklejamy kwiatki do pręcika. 4. W zależności od rodzaju użytego wykrojnika możemy uzyskać różny kształt kwiatka. Well, Big Shot dies, really ... I used two different dies on this card for today's Create with Connie and Mary Thursday Challenge, as well as two Sizzlets! The challenge colors are Pool Party, Calypso Coral and Basic Gray, and here's my card: This is a fun color challenge using two of my favorite colors: Pool Party and Calypso Coral! I'm so glad they are returning to the Stampin' Up! color line-up as standard colors instead of being retired! The Basic Gray provides good contrast for these light and bright colors! I used the Blossom Party Originals Die and polka dot Tea for Two Designer Series Paper for the flowers and Boho Blossoms Punch for the small Pool Party centers. The leaves are cut with the Little Leaves Sizzlet, which is a a must-have for me! The doily was diecut with the Large Delicate Doilies Sizzlet; the polka-dot scallops were diecut with the Tasteful Trim BigzXL Die. The little polka-dot butterfly was punched with the Bitty Butterfly Punch. The Comfort Cafe Designer Series Paper is the source for the striped Pool Party dsp and the greeting is from the retiring Pursuit of Happiness set; I've really used this set a lot and will miss it! I love the flowers that are made with this Blossom Party Originals Die; I need to use this more! Basic Pearls center both the flowers and butterfly. Thanks for visiting today and I appreciate your comments. Try this super color combination for a card yourself, post it somewhere online then add your card link to the challenge post at Create with Connie and Mary CCM250! Have a stampin' good day! Margaret

Hello and welcome! Nancy here, and I'm honored to be presenting the Saturday Step by Step on this lovely day. I've shared a couple of flower tutorials in the past and I hope you won't mind if I share just one more. This blooming rose is a flower I use often in my projects and I've had a few special requests for a tutorial on my blog. I started making flowers in 1980 and this technique is a bit of a throwback to the way we created flowers way back then. The supplies from the 80's are no longer on the market so I've adjusted my technique over the years, all for the better! Back then paper crafting wasn't the industry that it is today. Options were limited as there were none of the wonderful papers or dies that we use today. We made flowers with pre-made silk rose petals and with one item I really miss; shaped cotton buds on wire stems. I've looked for them everywhere to no avail, hence my own technique to replicate the same style. For this flower I like to use Tim's Tattered Florals die, a star punch, floral wire, and a small wooden craft bead that can be found at any craft store. Begin by cutting 5 flower petals and punching one star. I've used my favorite Maja papers; Vintage Summer Basics and Vintage Autumn Basics. Pierce a hole in the center of each petal and the star. Take one petal and cut it into six separate pieces. Lightly moisten each piece by spraying with a water mister then begin shaping each petal. I use shaping tools that have different sized balls on the ends. I used the two smallest tools for these tiny petals. I begin by rubbing the petal with the larger ball tool, gently breaking down the fibers in the paper and adding texture. Next I create a cavity in the side of the paper that I want to use for the inside of the flower by gently pressing into the center with the smaller tool. The second petal remains whole, but is shaped in exactly the same method. For petals 3 through 5 use a similar process, starting with the side that will be the back of the flower. Continue to moisten, gently rub, and shape each petal. Once you've completed the shaping on the back side of the paper, turn it over and press firmly down in the center of what will become the front side of the flower. Proceed in exactly the same manner with the star punch. Below are all the shaped petals you'll need to assemble your flower. Thread the floral wire through the little wooden craft bead. This will become the center of your flower and provide the base for a perfectly shaped bud. The floral wire stem makes it easy to add the petals and form your flower. Begin with the tiny separate petals and use glue to adhere them to the base of the wooden bead one by one. Squeeze the tops of the first four petals and adhere them so they completely cover the top of the bead. The next two petals can be applied a bit more loosely, adhering at just the base and a little way up the side. The photo below is what it will look like when you're finished with the layer of separate petals. Next adhere the second petal to the base of your bud. Apply a little adhesive to the sides and loosely form them around your first layer of petals to give the flower the appearance of a gently opening rose. Now for the easiest step. Adhere petals 3 through 5 to the base of your bud in an open position, remembering to stagger each layer as you go. The last step is to adhere the star punch to the base of your rose to give it a finished look. I adore creating secret gardens. The photo below is an example of how I've used some of these roses in a past project. Having the wire stem gives you the option of attaching the roses to design your own floral sprays. If you don't wish to use the wire you can easily snip it off with your craft scissors. Thanks so much for visiting us at the Frilly and Funkie. I wish you a day filled with blessings and joy! I hope you'll have fun creating a garden full of blooming roses in your own craft room! I have been drooling over this postcard stamp since it was released and finally got my paws on one and made this card! I'm besotted with it and have several all colored up ready to go! It is a Joy Craft Clear Stamp - Floral Flourishes 6410/0044 and I call it the Old Rose! I stamped it onto off white card stock and distress it with Pumice Stone, Tea Dye and a hint of Tattered Rose and Vintage Photo around the edges, trimmed it down and mounted it onto burgundy card stock. The background stamp is a B-Line Design stamp CTD015G Damask Collage and one of my favorites! This stamp was 'ponced' with Pumice Stone and Aged Mahogany Distress Inks and stamped and had a little distressing treatment the same as the postcard. It was also mounted onto a burgundy background and had sheer organza ribbon and beautiful antique lace from my stash, wrapped on the left side. I die cut the Joy Craft Corner 6002/0135 out of the burgundy card stock and attached it to the top right corner. I brought my lovely Nellie Snellen Floral Punch set FLP031 out of hibernation and punched leaves for my paper rose mounted in the left bottom corner. Of course pearls had to be added to finish off the vintage classic! I loved this card and feel a 'mass production' may well be on the cards, excuse the pun! I'm starting to feel the joy creep back into my soul and am having a creative surge, so may well be posting more regularly. Thank you to all who so sweetly left me kind words, hugs and encouragement after my last post. It was the bottom of a dark period and thanks be to God, I'm well and truly 'lifted' by all your love and prayers. God Bless you, one and all! Enjoy the weekend and thanks so much for the visit!

The card base is a 4 1/4" x 11" piece of Night of Navy cardstock scored at 5 1/2" and 2 3/4". The 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Basic White is embossed with the Exposed Brick Embossing Folder. Below are all the pieces I cut using the Earthen Textures Dies and the Countryside Inn Designer Series Paper. Boho Blue was used for the large palm, the sticks, and the smaller palm. Another palm and stick were cut from Night of Navy. Distressed Gold Specialty paper was used for the leaves and pod and punched with the Bough punch. Below are closeups of each vase. The thank you from Go to Greetings was stamped on Basic White in Night of Navy and cut with a die from the Something Fancy Dies set. The bordering base was cut with a die from the same set out of Boho Blue cardstock. This was mounted on dimensionals. I decided to see how the card front would look in a 4" x 6" frame.
