First, thank you for your kind comments and encouragements about my "Chaos" quilt and my new sampler project. I really did appreciate ! No finishes today ... Not even a WIP. But I hope to have something to show you later this week. I just wanted to mention that one of my quilting friend wrote a profile about me on France Patchwork blog (Swiss division). You can read it here (and practice your French !). She asked me at the last meeting if I was okay to be the next on the list. And early in July she invited me for a quilting and chatting day. We spent a lovely afternoon in her garden but actually we only talk that day ;-) It was definitely too hot for sewing ! Fabric flowers in Covent Garden, London. NAN PAPER ART
Every visitor played a part in creating this incredible installation.
Artist Marianne Eriksen-Scott Hansen has mastered the art of making intricate, large-scale paper blossoms. Her stunningly beautiful flowers often require one thousand or even more millimeter-thin pieces of tissue paper. The artist understands the need for beauty in people's lives, and that she aims to deliver with her works of paper art. "Just as you need food in your stomach and clothes on your body, so do you think you need beauty. I've decided that the bit of beauty I might have inside just goes out," she told Bored Panda.
This is an ongoing installation work, which seeks to use a large portion of the embroidered flowers in my 'stockpile' of domestic linens - doilies, tea and tray-cloths, tablecloths etc. I began working on these in November 2016, using embroidery hoops (bought in Malaysia in 2008). I was preparing to
