Junonia Orithya(Blue Pansy) -Male -Recto -Malaysia -(1.8 in wingspan). This is a common butterfly which is found in Central & Southern Africa, South & SouthEast Asia and Australia. It has 26 subspecies.
Papilio Indra Minori(Indra Swallowtail) -Male -Emery Co. Utah, USA -(2.75 in wingspan). Papilio Indra is found in the western half of North America, from extreme southern British Columbia, south through Washington, Oregon and California (extending to northern Baja California, Mexico). Its habitat is Rocky Terrain including: desert mountains, hilltops, rocky slopes and canyons. The larvae feed on aromatic herbs of the parsley family (Apiaceae). It has a wingspan of 2.5 to 3 inches and is most similar to the (eastern)black swallowtail(Papilio polyxenes) and the short-tailed swallowtail(Papilio brevicauda). However, the white and blue markings along with the size and tails on this butterfly vary considerably among the various subspecies. In fact, one of the most interesting things about this butterfly is that it has 12 subspecies with tremendous geographic variation over its range. Following is a link(created by Dr. Wayne Whaley) which shows the geographical range of Papilio Indra in the Western USA along with photos of the 12 subspecies. https://www.waynewhaley.faculty.uvu.edu/indra.shtm
