Welcome back! Lisa here and I've got some Deco Foil fun today using the new Bubbly Stencil and Rainbow Deco Foil! I started by applying some Deco Foil Transfer Gel through the bubbly Stencil onto a white cardstock panel. Once it was dry, I laid a sheet of rainbow foil over the top and ran it through my Minc. I love that when you use foil on a background like this you are left with a cool negative space. I always save them because all you need is some Toner Sheets and you can lay the negative space sheet over it and run it through the Minc and it's a whole different look! Here are my two panes I was left with. I layered the original onto a white base and the negative panel onto a black base. I cut the circles from the Pinked Slimline Dies from white glitter paper and layered them over the front of the lighter base to serve as the background for my sentiment. I cut that using the Celebrate word die from the Hooray Fri-Dies once from foil cardstock and twice more from white cardstock and stacked them together and added them over the glitter circles. Finally I added a sentiment from the Sassy Celebration Stamp Set on a strip at the bottom of the card. I used the same basic layout for my black base but using black glossy cardstock for the circles and that cute sentiment from Whole Shebang. A few sequins finished them up. Thanks so much for stopping! Hope you enjoyed it and you'll come again soon. Should you see anything you need to have in the shop I have this for you: Come again soon for more CAS-ual Fridays inspiration!

One of the supplies inside this month's Simon Card Kit was a pack of 5 Shattered Glass foils. I couldn't wait to play with them, and once I had my laminator heated up, I made it worthwhile and did a couple more foiled cards at the same time. This foil is gorgeous! supplies: white, several ivories, pale yellow, green, and black cardstock, Altenew Watercolor Stripes stencil, Deco Foil Rainbow Shattered Glass foil, transfer gel and stencil pal, Altnew Fantasy Floral dies, sentiment from Simon's Beautiful Flowers, adhesive foam strips to separate flower layers I love foiling with a stencil and transfer gel! And now with the new stencil pal, spreading the gel smoothly is a piece of cake! It's a nice large 5 1/2" long, SO much better than a credit card! Here I used a striped stencil and tried to get a rainbow effect with the foil, then just added my flower and a sentiment. With all the color in the stripes, I opted for a simple cream/off-white flower and a small black sentiment. The next card is REALLY simple, and lets the stencil and the gorgeous foil shine. This one has blues, golds, and greens in it. supplies: white and green cardstock, gold foil cardstock, Newton's Nook Tropical Leaves stencil, transfer gel, stencil pal, and Emerald Watercolor foil, lucky clover distress ink, IO Greeting Top Edgers sentiment die As I did above, I spread the gel through the stencil, let it dry, then added a sheet of Watercolor foil to it before heating it in my laminator. I didn't like the foiling against white, so I sponged on some lucky clover distress ink. Next I sliced my foiled panel into 2 pieces, and added my gold foil sentiment die at the top of one, and edged the other panel with more of the gold foiled cardstock. My final card is all Tim Holtz - this Scribbles stencil is one of my favorites of his! supplies: white, black, and Cotton Candy cardstock, Tim Holtz Scribbles stencil, Gina K Bubblegum foil, transfer gel, stencil pal, Detailed Butterflies dies, Big Chat stickers, Tiny Heart sprinkle Since Tim's stencils don't cover an entire card width-wise, after I'd foiled it, I trimmed it down and framed it with white cardstock before adding it to the Cotton Candy base. And I added a little Tiny Heart sprinkle to the butterfly. And one final card, using the same stencil as above, and the same foil as my first card. supplies: white cardstock, Scribbles stencil, Rainbow Shattered foil, transfer gel, stencil pal, sentiment from Simon's (retired) Birthday Flowers, Pretty Pink Posh Scallop Borders 2 die Thanks for sticking with me on this long post. Foiling stencils is a great easy way to add some oomph to a card!

The We R Memory Keepers Foil Quill must be the most hyped accessory for digital cutter machines in years! I don't always invest in new products quite so quickly, but I've been looking for a way to add foil to my projects for a long time and the WRMK products that I already have are such great quality, I thought that it would be worth the investment. I wasn't wrong - I love this accessory! By co-incidence at the same time that my Quill arrived I obtained a bag of mixed foils, so I've been able to test a few different types of foil with the Quill, and I thought I'd share my results with you here. This is not a comprehensive test of the all foils available in the UK, but might help those of you who already have some foil in your stash, and aren't sure if they will work or not. I'd read that the Quill should work on card with heat-activated foils, but not those that are toner activated. I didn't really know what type of foils I had, so I trying them out seemed a sensible move. We R Memory Keepers Foil The foil that comes free with the Quill is 6" wide by about 43" long (just guessing the length, as I'd used some of all three of the rolls that came with my Quill). The rolls you buy separately are wider at 12", I think (at the time of writing mine are still on back-order). Settings: I foiled some smooth navy American Crafts card using these settings on my Silhouette Cameo. Results: The results were great. It worked on the first setting I tried (reduced speed and force from the default sketch setting for textured cardstock) so it doesn't seem to be too particular. The result was shiny all over, even in application, with no skipping. I was impressed! TODO Foil The TODO foil looks very similar to the WRMK foil, possibly the gold is factionally more yellow. The WRMK is the narrower roll in the centre. The backing is almost identical in colour, but the rolls are narrower at 4 3/4" (12 cm x 5m). Mine came in a mixed pack of four coloured foils, gold, satin gold, satin silver and silver which costs about £12.99. The rolls are designed to be used with the TODO Hot Foil Press/Multi-Functional Crafting Machine. I used the exact same settings, and the result was just about identical on card. So similar I couldn't tell the difference in a photo, so haven't included photos of the results. Crafter's Companion Foil The Crafter's Companion foil is the same width as the that comes with the WRMK kit at 6-inches, but is a slightly paler gold (the WRMK is on the right in this picture). The rolls cost about £3.99 for a 2 metre length roll. The backing on the gold is a red/pink colour. At the same settings the resulting foiling was almost the same, again with no skipping. I was so pleased about this as I have a whole heap of gorgeous colours to try. They seem to be readily available and come in some lovely colours. Craft Dragon These rolls are much narrower at 9 cm and the gold is a little paler - the WRMK foil is shown on the right for comparison. The backing is an opaque creamy-white. They come in a pack with two gold, two silver, one red and one green and are designed to be used with the Impress Hot Foil Machine. Again the results were great, with even coverage, and no skipping. I'm not sure that these are available to buy any more, but worth using if you have some already in your stash. KanBan These were the narrowest rolls at 10 cm, but a really, really long roll. The foil has a flimsier feel and has a gold backing. The colour is just slightly lighter than the WRMK foil. This foil came in a kit with a set of adhesive peel-offs and I didn't expect that this would work at all. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The results were OK, not as even as the other foils, but great for practice! As I acquire other foils I'll post my results, so do follow this blog if you'd like to read more. I'll be posting the finished card made with these pretty foiled butterflies along with some foil pen storage ideas.
