Via Freeform crochet has always been immensely attractive for me. It shows the amazing creative genius of the artist and the skills to turn those varied shapes and forms into tangible, awe-striking masterful constructions. Once in a while, I like to delve into freeform crochet, but this summer, the desire to fully engage into it is hugely pronounced. I have already made several freeform necklaces, but I decided to bead them all and the beading is going slow. So, I have nothing to show you right now, but I am hopeful to have them ready by the end of the week. How about you? Have you tried freeform crochet? What have you made? Via Via Via

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the coining of the expression 'Flower Power', over 200 crocheters and knitters from 24 countries created freeform motifs with a hippie theme. They mailed them all to me, I joined everything together, and this is the result. More info: 50yearsofflowerpower.

I haven't posted anything for quite a while as I've been pretty busy. Online breaks are important to me in times when so many things are happening in the "real life". The reason why you can see me presenting my new coat on the beach is that I've moved to Scotland a couple of weeks ago! Edinburgh is just such a beautiful & open-minded place to live & I already met many new crafty friends! With this coat I got rid of loads of unfinished projects & scrumbles I've made over the last years - I still have more than 400 left which is pretty good because I'm also working on a even bigger secret project! ;-) It never gets boring as long as you are a crocheter! I could only take one of my Nanas with me to the ocean but of course ALL of them have moved to Scotland as well! I always find new doggie friends here in Edinburgh to play with but I'm also pretty sad that my best doggie friend has recently left us - Samson. He has been the best nephew for me you can imagine & it's just heart-breaking that he had to leave his loving grandma Barbara. My future dog has to be a rottweiler, hopefully it will be such a great cuddler as Sam was. ❤❤❤ Farewell Samson, this world is missing you badly. ❤❤❤ Some more coat pics... ...and here you can see Alex wearing my coat! Looks pretty awesome on him! While I was puzzling together this coat Alex was so lovely to make some scrumbles for this coat as well! Here you can see 2 puzzle pieces he made for my freeform coat! Sooo, one last pic... I will try to post more often again & I wish you a wonderful day with many beautiful stitches! Your friend Dada ❤❤❤

Have you heard of Mizzie Morawez? Well, I had the pleasure to learn about her a couple of years ago, and while planning the Inspiration Mondays I thought she certainly deserves more attention and a little space to be given on my blog to showcase her stunning crochet pieces. For, whenever I come upon one of Mizzie's creations, I stop immediately to wonder in awe at her astonishing and extraordinary freeform crochet. The unbelievable and exceptional construction of her pieces, use of yarn, colors and patterns will leave you speechless. Literally. This is what she says about herself and her crochet art: "I´m a friendly alienated hyper-creative multimedia artist & free lance interior designer for a living. I believe we are creating our own reality, so why not make it a place of joy & fearlessness - I´m proud to be making this world a better place one room at a time & supporting other people to create their realities as well. One more essential aspect of my personal reality is my lifelong passion for creating wearable-art- garments of all sorts & styles for true individuals who are not afraid to self-express & show the world who they are! To me fashion is like a stage for personal theatre - you act out your feelings and attitudes in as subtle or dramatic a way as you wish to show, and there is no better way to help you achieve that goal than through art-to-wear clothing. There are no two people exactly alike, why should they wear exactly the same thing? This thought convinced me of the necessity to create individual pieces which will speak to each person in a secret language understandable only to the two of them - until they meet. So, be yourself, find yourself, express yourself, make art part of your daily life, and if I can help you on this road, it will be my biggest reward." Find more on Mizzie's blog and Flickr

I know many of you are doing the Stitch A long but I thought I would post something I worked on last week. I do get tired of counting , checking charts, and making mistakes. Yes I made many on this Stitch A Long part #1. It was like something did not want me to do it but I am stubborn and would not give up :) I had to FROG about 4 separate times for such a small area but keep in mind it was just me not paying attention. So my alternative when the sun goes down is to crochet. I free-formed this piece that I am using for a doily on my table in the studio. I just love all of the colors and no pattern to follow YEAH!!! I used up my stash of pearl cotton. Hope you are stitching better than I did on part #1 Oh and one more thing I TRIED to iron my Stitch A Long piece to photograph and show you but yes I sprayed to much water and it ran. Weeks Dye Works floss is colorfast now but my stash from long ago is not. My white turned pink and I was not happy so I threw it away. Imagine this is the piece that I frogged 4 times, but my new stitched piece is just fine and I did not have to FROG anything (YET) !! Just sharing my stitching adventures!!

To paraphrase old blue eyes, “Ragrets, I have had a few….” This year is not going to be like a misspelled tattoo that leave one filled with either regrets or ragrets, but unlike 2015 and 2016, I am going to finish my state fair piece — although you might not be able to tell from […]
