Are you feeling down, constipated, or overweight? Is your blood pressure or blood sugar a little high? Do you have trouble falling asleep at night? The solution might be as simple as walking for 30 minutes each day. A walk might seem like child’s play compared to running a marathon or competing in crossfit, but a walk can be a very healthy alternative if you lack the time or interest in exercising intensely. Humans were built for walking, and some health experts believe that the chair was the worst invention ever created. You can do a lot to enhance your health by standing up and taking a walk.

What is banned book week? Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read. Banned Books Week was launched in 1982 in response to a sudden surge in the number of challenges to books in schools, bookstores, and libraries. The week highlights the value of free and open access to information and fosters collaboration with the entire book community — librarians, booksellers, publishers, journalists, teachers, and readers of all types — in shared support of the freedom to seek and to express ideas, even those some consider unorthodox or unpopular. Banned Books Week is September 22 – 28, 2019!
Every Tuesday, here at Mocha Girls Read we feature a new book by a new to most of us author. The books are across different genres, mostly new releases and are by mostly independently published authors. This way we get to find out about new books and the authors are introduced to a new audience. Basically, it’s a win-win kinda situation. And the icing on the bookish cake is the giveaway at the end. I mean who doesn’t love a giveaway.

Why should we read translated fiction? The answer is quite simple. It opens us up to different cultures and allows us to see fresh perspectives. Last year alone the United States published over a million new titles. You would think that you have many opportunities to explore different worldviews. But alas, this is not the case.
