I fell in love with this fabulous J.Jill tunic as soon as I saw it! This top was provided by J.Jill. I have a weakness for soft, easy pieces that flow across the body and look great with jeans. If the item can be worn for three seasons, even better! This color is called Gala, which will go with every pair of pants I own. That makes this tunic a very wise purchase. The ankle jeans and the wide silver cuff are both old from Chico's. The boots are old by Ralph Lauren, and the bag is old by Cole Haan, both from T.J.Maxx. Buying classic items with a simple design means that you can wear the pieces for years to come and in many combinations. I will wear this top with white jeans and nude sandals many times this summer. It looks great with most of my scarves and all of my fun cuffs and bracelets. I can also wear it with the sleeves long and layer a jacket or cardigan over it. We moved the furniture around a bit to shoot this short video and take these pictures for you. I hope my tips inspire and help you get dressed with ease.

It was 78 degrees (25-ish C) here on Sunday when this photo was made. Not a Sunday in the late summery weather of last September, but on this last Sunday, November 30. Yesterday. The high today was 35 degrees (1.6 C). We had the AC on in our car on the way to town on Sunday, but heat blasting on the way in to work this morning. Disconcerting and sort of time-warpy, but pleasant. The unseasonable warmth did give me a chance to go lazy and all easy-peasy and wear my one and only graphic T ... my Audrey Hepburn shirt ... my favorite blazer and a newish red messenger bag. I found the silky little Audrey shirt on sale at Target, (in my size, which rarely happens) and if it was not true love at first sight, it was an infatuation that turned into shirt-love after I slipped it on. And how can one not love an image of Audrey? (The red cursive is supposed to be her signature.) Besides the bag, the rest was a matter of closet shopping some of my favorite dress-up-dress-down coated jeans, shoes and the rest. Guilt free and fun to wear on a lazy Sunday. Below is a better view of the bag. It was a rare pleasure for me to find it on clearance, after I'd zeroed in on it the first time I'd seen it a few weeks ago, but put it right back on the rack after I looked at the original price. This never happens to me. So, I'm pleased. I'd wanted a red bag to sharpen up a lot of darks I'm drawn to this winter, and this functions just fine. Lots of fun compartments, and the drop is a dandy length to sling over the shoulder with a jacket or coat. ~*~*~*~*~ Hair-Color Debacle Drama Update: As predicted, super-stylist Kay did get a massive laugh at my adventure in bright hair color. A great cut helped a lot. It's simmered down with washing and a couple of applications of a warm-red color refreshing glaze. Neat! It's still bright, but I don't mind it so much. And the consistent acquisition of my personal color is no longer an issue. Excellent. I'm no longer unhappy and that is my preferred emotional state, if I get to choose! ~*~*~*~*~ Late as always, I'm heading over to the Snazzy in Blue Karina Dressed Patti for her Special Edition Visible Monday ! You could win a dress from Karina dress and see how a lot of fabulous women are working their looks!

Mr. Mickey and I spent the past weekend at the Omni Grove Park Inn in Asheville, North Carolina for their 27th annual comedy classic weekend. After we checked out on Sunday morning, we drove down to the Biltmore Village to do some shopping before brunch. On our final day in Asheville, I wore a blue Travelers jacket with a mesh hem black layering tank and black straight-leg pants. I modeled this jacket with white at an in-store event here. The clothing as well as the necklace, cuff, and shoes are from Chico's. One of the many reasons I wear Chico's clothing so often is that the pieces pack well, work together across seasons, and with the other items in my closet. There are many great places to shop in the Biltmore Village as well as restaurants and an antique district. Spring is here! We enjoyed a delightful brunch at Chestnut. We had been looking forward to trying this restaurant for some time. It did not disappoint! These are the shoes I bought at Chico's on the first day of our visit. They were on sale for $9.95! I hope you have enjoyed our little weekend getaway. Several of you wrote to ask how many suitcases I took on this trip. I had one hanging bag for the jackets and one medium size weekender bag for everything else. That's the beauty of a capsule wardrobe. Use two or three colors that work together and you can create a variety of looks with only a few pieces. I used black, white, and blue items with silver accessories on this trip.

White pants are a wardrobe staple for me. I wear them all year round. In the winter, I wear white denim jeans often on sunny days. When the weather finally warms up, I start looking for lighter weight fabrics in classic styling to wear with great looking jackets and tunics. I normally buy a size larger in white pants than in darker colors unless the sizes run large. I am wearing a pair of ankle pants sent to me by Purple Poppy by Renuar. They have the slimming wide waistband shown below that I appreciate so much. When I wear a sleek tunic or tank, I never want closures and loops, creating lumps and bumps under the fabric. Masculine style pants are never flattering on me. Always check to make sure you can not see through the fabric, and always wear nude color undies with white because white undies will still show through. This link is to a Spanx foundation garment from Macy's that I often wear under sleek fitting tanks and tunics. It isn't heavy-duty, but it does give you a nice smooth line around your tummy area. The swing jacket is from IC Collection. I bought this one at ShopMyFairLady. The tank top is from Chico's. I buy these in several different colors because I never know when to complement whatever I am wearing. A styling tip; when jackets converge to create an unflattering neckline, I leave them open to create a long, lean line instead. A lower neckline is always more flattering for my face shape. The shoes are old by Thalia and Sodi via Macy's last year. The box clutch bag is old from T.J.Maxx. Mr. Mickey and I love to visit Gourmet and Company to sit in the lounge area or on the warm weather patio. The elegant and comfortable, quiet atmosphere is the perfect place to relax and visit with friends even if you aren't having dinner there.

I am telling you gurls, I am dragging my rear today. I traveled from my sisters in Georgia to North Myrtle Beach on Thursday, which just happened to also be Valentine’s Day. We had dinner with friends this spring-like Sunday evening. It was wonderful to wear only a lightweight navy linen jacket from Appleseed's with a white tank top and khaki zip ankle pants from Chico's. The sunglasses are by Kenneth Cole Reaction from T.J. Maxx. I found the Anne Klein Sport sandals at T.J.Maxx. The bag is by Coach from their outlet in Blowing Rock, North Carolina.

At the end of our first perfect full day on the island, we had a wonderful dinner with some of the Hilton Head Island members - Bluffton Chamber of Commerce at the Red Fish. It is one of the top-rated restaurants on the Island. I wore a blue lace swing jacket by Damee NYC with Lior Paris Sasha pants, both provided by ShopMyFairLady. (I have to tell you that these are the most comfortable dress pants I have ever worn.) The layered V-neck tank is from White House Black Market. I carried a clutch bag from a few years ago and wore black suede fringe trim sandals by BCBGeneration via Saks Off 5th. The water on Hilton Head Island gives me the best hair of my life! The view from our terrace at the Marriott Resort and Spa was spectacular! I was on that beach walking as the sun came up as often as possible! I hope you are enjoying seeing the photos from our mini-vacation on the beautiful Hilton Head Island. More tomorrow!
