I had such a pleasure to work on some incredible things during my time working at Blizzard on Diablo IV! My main focus was on exterior environment art. My job was defining the looks of certain areas and architecture types across the many zones. Primarily my focus was architecture/structures/worldbuilding. The team was absolutely amazing and I'm so thankful I got to be apart of the journey! Truly a massive team effort. https://www.artstation.com/mattmcdaid https://www.artstation.com/wiley3d https://www.artstation.com/fallbrumby https://www.artstation.com/shong1123 https://www.artstation.com/nshade https://www.artstation.com/ryandao https://www.artstation.com/rmarella -Chris Donelson -Chris Ryder
My responsibilities in these images are the high/low poly models, baking/ UV's, kit planning, and high poly upressing. The "keep" kit is our first ever built dungeon for Diablo IV, it's seen many years of pipeline evolutions, and is one of the most used kits in the game. Including the tutorial dungeon (which is funny, because it taught us how to build dungeons as well!), and the first experience players had in Diablo IV's first BlizzCon demo. It's very symbolic for me, so a special thanks to Brian Fletcher and the D4 team for all having big hands in it's creation. Diablo IV represents a tremendous team effort of people I'm honored to work with! And plenty more work to be done!
A lot of my time on Diablo IV was working on Wilderness area’s in Kehjistan and a few isolated areas in Scosglen. The vast size and scale of the exterior world allowed us to have a fair amount of creative freedom. All these shots were a huge team effort from our exceptional art and design teams. They all played a role in bringing these spaces to life!
