In order to keep the quilt square, I drew the right angle on batting. Then I aligned the edges of the quilt with the drawn lines. I

Here is a tutorial for a quilted hexagonal bowl. And reversible! PIN this for later The bowl measures 13 inches from a point to the opposite point. I made it using my shadow trapunto technique. I used these templates: Download the templates here (this is a 'pdf' file; you will need Adobe Reader to open it). After you print and cut the templates, check out that the bottom side of the 'A' piece has the same size as the side of the hexagon . Make six 'A' pieces and one 'B' piece. I made these pieces from quilted fabric. Make
Have you seen my latest patterns? This is one of them - a simple folding technique that textures fabric beautifully. But how to quilt these textured blocks? First thing first: always think about the size of the block, how the piece will be used, who will use it, how often, in what way, and how often it will be washed. If you want to preserve the look above, then you should do a minimal quilting and the piece could be finished as a wall hanging. You don't touch it often, you don't wash it, so the blocks will stay in

So if you don't know how to use them, here is an idea: 3D pinwheels. You can make this design as scrappy as you want (using your scraps), but I think the assorted squares of a collection you find in a pack make the design even more beautiful. Have you seen my latest kaleidoscope quilt patterns? If this technique is new to you, check out the patterns then come back here for a few tips. When you say KALEIDOSCOPE, you say PATTERN REPEAT. A pattern repeat is the design that repeats on fabric, lengthwise and crosswise, so it has a certain length and width. Depending on how many repeats you have on your fabric, you can create different types of kaleidoscope blocks. From 4 repeats you can cut squares and create square blocks, from 6 repeats or 8 repeats you cut triangles and create hexagons or octagons. You

I love to sew mini blocks! These ones below measures 2.75''. In case you think that you don't have patience to sew such blocks, I can tell you that the piecing is really fun, because it is actually strip piecing. For these blocks I used 1'' wide strips. The pattern for this block is here. I stitched a 16'' pillow and I thought to turn the three orphan blocks into coasters. At this small size, I thought to skip the binding and finish the blocks without binding. A little trick makes the process quick and easy so I thought to

One of my friends sent me a few strips of fleece and yesterday I made a blanket for my little nephew. These are 5'' squares. I stitched them with long stitches and the widest seam allowances. I pieced the blocks and finger pressed the seam allowances open then I stitched them down. No bulky seam allowances on the back side. Some of the blocks distorted more than others so that I adjusted the size of all blocks. Then I pieced the blocks and I stitched down the seam allowances in the same way. The piecing was unexpectedly easy! I added
