Oil painting - Oil on panel Chelsea Gibson's portraits are composed of people in their homes surrounded by the quotidian clutter of their lives. While all of her subjects are in some ways defined by and also defining their surroundings, the real potency resides in her own (seemingly unseen) presence. There is an intimacy in her paintings—a deeply personal and profound attachment to the people, things, and spaces depicted. Stacks of books, piles of papers on a table, kitchen utensils and pots and pans occupy the majority of the multi-panel works. The abundance of functional objects builds a narrative where, even in a person’s passive stance, or absence, people play an active role. oil painting, portrait, interior, home decor, realism, figurative art, still life, domestic scene, kitchen, portrait, contemporary art
Welcome to your first peak inside The Gibson House. This 1912 home holds so much history, we are honored to have the opportunity to breathe new life into it, while also preserving it's charm. The home is being remodeled in phases - with the living and dining room first on the list. We removed the old wallpaper and went with a plaster finish. We were careful to select timeless finishes that look like they could have been here all along. We selected a replica Batchelder tile made by Pasadena Tile
