Gladiators (Latin: gladiatores, from gladius, "sword") were fighters in ancient Rome who battled each other in competitions held in amphitheaters. Of all the games that satisfied the Roman people's passion for spectacles, gladiatorial combat (munera gladiatoria) was the most favored by all classes. Gladiatorial contests originated from Etruscan funeral games, which replaced the human sacrifices once performed in memory of the deceased. Such an important aspect of Roman culture has not been overlooked by our club! A true fight before an audience is a deadly dance, a genuine art form. This dangerous entertainment continues to captivate, just as it did in ancient times. The main goal of this direction is the study and recreation of gladiatorial personas, as well as organizing sports competitions and staged battles. Moreover, it’s a unique opportunity for women to start reconstructing a combat persona!
