The ceiling of Grand Central Terminal in New York, restored as originally completed in 1912. This is a gorgeous, bustling hub of metropolitan traffic within the heart of Manhattan and wonderful for photographers, if they plan ahead. I had to submit a request to their Public Affairs rep a few weeks in advance of this planned visit to New York, but it was a pleasure dealing with Ms. Conti, who set aside passes to setup a tripod and circumvent security (who, on several occasions, did actually approach me to verify the pass stuck to my shirt). Processing this set of 7 exposures for the HDR here brought out details of the ceiling which weren't evident to the naked eye... the details of the milky way and zodiac were difficult to see while setting up these shots. backfromleave.com

Mod boutique with an intimate city spa and hip terrace bar with stellar city views Like a little black dress, this sexy 60-room Brussels boutique hotel turns heads. Spacious monochrome bedrooms are decked out in black patent-leather furniture, smoky gray praline tables and black suede headboards. The bathroom is set behind smoked glass sliding doors and stocked with Etro toiletries. Public spaces maintain that monochrome mania, broken by the silver disc curtains that separate the lobby from the bar. Color comes into play in the green breakfast room and white Be Lella restaurant, but it’s back to black in the hotel’s hotspot bar, the guests-only roof-terrace Black Lounge from which the city views are stellar.
