Hoary Plantain (Plantago media) grows in damp grassy meadows. A slender stalk of 5-50 cm develops from a basal rosette of finely haired leaves. Pink-white flowers are borne from Spring until Autumn. It is native to eastern England, but scarce in Scotland and Ireland, and grows in grassland, meadows, lawns and waste places.
