Having a rummage about in the lace baskets I found lots of odd bits which I haven't been able to bear to throw away - (I was obviously a squirrel in a former life) - I dragged out a few scraps and left them out on the desk as I have had this idea rattling round in my head and wanted it all to 'come together' before I made a mess of making something - - and the reason why I didn't want to spoil anything is the centrepiece - it was made by the lovely Caz and it came with fab candy stash which I was fortunate enough to win! Originally I didn't want to use either of the two gorgeous hand made brooches from the candy pile - they're just too beautiful but it seemed a shame not to - at least this way the tag can sit out on display in my craft room and be seen! So thank you Caz - and I hope I've done your creation justice! I inked the tag with Old paper, Vintage Photo and Worn Lipstick DI, then randomly stamped some script over it. (Can't see this very well on the pic but trust me it's there!) I covered the whole of the tag then with some old lace which had a fancy edge and stitched it, then just added more and more odd scraps, stitching them all as I went along. The brooch was then pinned to the centre and I cut out a vintage pic and popped it into a metal frame, covered it with Glossy Accents and stitched to the base of the tag. The 'believe' was another scrap found in the lace basket and I raised it up slightly by arching it before stitching the ends. Used some seam binding ribbon and more odd lace looped through the top. Am putting this into Pixies Snippets Playground this week to earn some brownie points for using up odds and ends! Salutations to you all! I am sorry I have not been posting....I have still been tired from our trip. It took a lot out of me, lol. I also have several project assignments coming up and have been creating in my craft room. I wanted to share my excitement over my guest gig over at Vintage Street Market. I adore their sweet nostagic products and kits! I had soooo much fun using several of their kits including Dimestore Vogue, Party Games, and family fun. Here are the creations I made....I seriously could have made more but ran out of time. I had a ball! LOVE the paper dolls and the little wardrobes that come with them. Took me straight back to when I was a little girl....that is when my paper adoration started. Sighhhhhhhhhh...just so sweet! Anyways...if you want to read up on my blog post over there go here. While you are there check out all the other designers...such gorgeous creations. You will dig the inspiration! Hope you enjoy! night night, cherry

Hello friends of Frilly and Funkie! Welcome back to our weekly Friday Focus column where we focus on one product or group of products sold in The Funkie Junkie Boutique, give you some fun inspiration for using the products and discount the products 15% for an entire week. Check out this week's Friday Focus category in the boutique for an awesome selection of buttons, all 15% off. I don't know too many female crafters who don't love buttons. I certainly am partial to them and love purchasing unusual ones for the boutique. My recent purchases have ranged from bright and cute to vintage and grungy with girly and shabby in between. So I made a few tags for to showcase the variety that is now available at The Funkie Junkie Boutique. Let's start with shabby and girly. For this tag, I fashioned a little garland using Venise lace and embellished it with these darling floral wooden buttons. I started with one of the jumbo manila tags sold in the boutique and stamped it using my all-time favorite Wendy Vecchi gingham background stamp from the Nature's Art set using Victorian Velvet DI. And of course the edges were all sponged with Vintage Photo DI. I broke out one of the new Wendy Vecchi archival inks - Potting Soil - to stamp the sentiments. The die cut was done from chipboard covered with Sticky Back Canvas using the Sewing Room die, then run through the Damask texture fade and sponged with Victoria Velvet DI. The skirt is made from one of the border doilies sold in the boutique, the waist band is coffee dyed Venise lace and the necklace is a corner filigree also sold in the boutique. Love that butterfly diecut with the tiny sewing spool body wrapped with burgundy burlap thread. Next I created a vintage button card to showcase these lovely vintage style silver tone buttons. You could use this button card as the focal piece on a card or a mixed media project. If you would like to print this card, here is a link to the website where I found it (scroll down a ways). I was in Pier One yesterday and they had a ton of the cutest Halloween decorations which really put me in the mood to start creating some Halloween crafts. Again using a jumbo manila tag, I created a dark and stormy night feeling by spreading some Black Soot distress stain on my craft sheet, sprinkling Pewter Perfect Pearls powder over it and dredging my tag through it until coated - love the silvery shine it results in! I sponged the tree with Peeled Paint to give it some whimsey, coated it with Rock Candy distress crackle paint and embellished it with black polka dot buttons with tiny purple burlap thread bows. The Graveyard On the Edge die was used for the tombstones, cut from plain brown chipboard and painted with two coats of metallic silver distress paint. I heat dried each coat and it resulted in cool bubbling and pitting on the surface. Core'dinations Kraft Core was used for the vintage lace topper and the RIP, both sanded with a sanding grip to reveal the kraft core. The bat and the 31 were also cut from chipboard and painted with Black Soot distress crackle paint. The Halloween ticket stamp is from the Odds and Ends set and cut with the ticket decorative strip die. Everything was adhered with Claudine Helmuth Multi Medium Matte. And finally, just a very simple tag done in Wendy Vecchi's style with some of her products. I first made a puddle of Frayed Burlap DS and Picket Fence DS, and dredged my jumbo manila tag through it to coat it. I used the Lovely Leaves stencil to sponge the leaves with Peeled Paint DI. Then, using the new Potting Soil archival ink, I randomly stamped the script stamp from the Live and Make Art set, then did second generation stamping with the flowers from Daisy Art. The sentiment, stamped with Potting Soil ink, is also from the Live and Make Art set, overstamped with the flowers from Daisy Art and sponged with Peeled Paint and Vintage Photo. The flowers were cut with the Tattered Flowers Decorative Strip die and I honestly don't know what colors they were sponged/dyed with. They were in my stash, left overs from a prior project. The button centers are the carved coconut shell buttons carried in the boutique. I loved their grunginess and just had to buy a bunch to carry in the store! Hope you enjoyed my button extravaganza. Hop on over to The Funkie Junkie Boutique to check out the Friday Focus sale, running now through next Thursday. Most of the products used to make the three tags can be purchased at The Funkie Junkie Boutique where most name brands are sold at 20% below MSRP.
Denne gangen lyder utfordringen "Love is in the air"-Valentine Mitt inspirasjonsbidrag denne gangen er helt uten bilde eller stempler.
Good Morning Everyone, It's Sandy here posting Tina's inspirational project for this week. You might recall from yesterday's post that this week's theme is "pearls".... ...are you now looking for the pearls on this tag? Well, the pearl is right there, in front of your eyes. Don't you see it??? The image sheet from the Alma collection has so many beautiful images, but if you ask me, this little girl is the pearl. The correct expression might be diamond, but hey since our weekly theme is pearls, let's refer to her as "the pearl", ok?! :-) Isn't she adoooooorable?!!! Here's a close up of the flower display, where you get a better look at the gorgeous new flowersprays: ...and hanging down from the display is one of the new bottle caps from Landstoken. Allow me to quote DT Member Tracy "They are the prettiest bottle caps I have seen"! Here's another look at it, together with some further details: Thanks so much for stopping by today. Hugs from Tina & Sandy
My friend Christina has now got to see these last two tags I made, so I can show them to you guys! The first one is inspired by Christy Tomlinson.
So Gertie, Patsy and I are back from our expedition to London to exhibit at the Country Living Spring Fair - but oh how nice it is to be back home! I wish the Fair was only three days long instead of five; it is so exhausting! As the winners of the Editor's Choice Award last year we were given a great spot right at the front of the mezzanine, with three metres of frontage, an absolute luxury! Here's how the finished stand looked: And yes, Mum and I took everything up on the train with us in suitcases! On the wall I hung this old child's quilted silk coat, which provided the perfect backdrop for my little vintage fabric brooches The base for each brooch was a piece from an old padded patchwork quilt The one below has a beautiful hand-stitched Dorset button (top right), and eleven of the tiniest mother-of-pearl buttons still on their original card I just love working with little bits! One of Gertie's linen cushions, with the front panel made from original Suffolk puffs from the 1920's Patsy had this wonderful idea of making bunting out of 1940's and 50's fashion magazines, showing knitting and embroidery patterns! I covered the side wall with old sea charts, and the seaside theme was echoed in the stripy ticking bags made by Patsy, and her strings of bunting and hand-stitched books made from old maps and sea charts. I managed to make a few small shell collages too On one of the shelves, a little drawer with my latest stitched piece displayed inside It says, 'you are sew lovely' Hair grips embellished with vintage buttons, and cards of buttons made simply to show off the beauty of each individual button And one of my natural box-framed collages 'Hours fly, flowers die; New days, new ways pass by; Love stays' It was so nice to meet everyone who visited The Sea Garden stand at the fair, and to say hello to some fellow bloggers. One of my lovely customers, Jan Pearson, sneakily took this photo of me arranging the cards. Thanks Jan! x

It's back to a colour week at Less is More and, this week, it's 'three shades of green'. Green and I don't have the best relationship; I'm more a warm colours lass. But then they do call them challenges for a reason. My mind instantly went to leaves and to French Foliage more specifically. Once I'd thought of this, the card didn't take too long to come together: Supplies Stamps: French Foliage, Faith in Nature (the sentiment) Ink: Certainly Celery, Old Olive, Always Artichoke, Crumb Cake for the splodges Card: Confetti Cream As always, if you are interested in this or any other SU supplies, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me either by email or by phone on 07977 141605. Remember that you can choose a free set of designer paper during April if your order comes to £45 or more. Click on the link in my sidebar if you want to know more. Have a lovely Easter Sunday!
