DIMENSIONS 16 1/2"h x 12 1/4"dia MEDIUM Ceramic, steel, unryu paper Edition of 12, 2022 Each ceramic UFO is unique and made by the artist in his studio ABOUT THE WORK Contemporary iconography gets a hit of gravitas in ceramicist Jake Clark’s body of work. Widely known for his handmade, folksy takes on memorabilia-esque vessels, Clark cleverly recasts familiar locations, brands, and media, spanning high-brow culture to low-brow mainstays. With a deftness of symbol, Clark stimulates both personal meaning and societal memory associated with the ever-present language of advertising. We are proud to have collaborated with Clark to create a ceramic sculpture edition, drawing on another type of cultural classic — the UFO. During a time when alienation has become near status-quo, the edition serves as a reminder that visual language can be playful, connective, and serve to brighten our lives. ARTIST BIOGRAPHY Jake Clark (b. 1985, Melbourne) has held solo exhibitions at Albertz Benda (New York), Allouche Benias gallery (Athens), Rodolphe Janssen (Brussels), Galerie Julien Cadet (Paris), Bill Brady Gallery (Miami), ATM Gallery (New York) and Kantor Gallery (Los Angeles). Select group exhibitions include presentations at Albertz Benda (Hong Kong), Woaw (Hong Kong), Galeria Yusto / Giner (Marbella), Rodolphe Janssen (Brussels), Galeria Mascota (Aspen), and Harper’s Books at Beverly Hills Hotel, among others. Clark currently lives and works in New York, NY. International customers are responsible for applicable duties and taxes
This gorse fae stands 7.5cms tall and is all hand sewn and hand embroidered. Her fabric is linen taken from vintage unused embroidery cloths, her threads are quality Anchor stranded cotton. Her filling is soft fluffy polyester recycled from plastic bottles. She can be propped against things such as books on shelves or is small enough to pop in your pocket to keep you company. Alternatively, I have added a ring to her back, so she can hang on the wall. She is one sided and ready to be named :) This doll is a one of a kind collectable and is not intended for children. This doll will arrive nicely packaged in an organic cotton bag, with an eco-friendly paper tag. I try my best to capture accurate colours in my photographs by using natural daylight. Each piece is hand made, sometimes with the odd bubble, dent, drip or mark that you may not find in a posh shop! BUT all items are made with love and care.
